Our home

Our lovely fieldstone house is a perfect, restful spot for a couple or a family with children. Modestly furnished, it is a superbly comfortable home in peaceful surroundings.

Downstairs is our open concept kitchen and dining table, living room with fireplace, two bedrooms and one full bathroom. Off the kitchen is our deck with barbeque, dining table and backyard. Upstairs is our open concept office and television room and one closed bedroom.

Our backyard is a private haven, with a medium sized lawn, vegetable garden, and small woods. From the front lawn we have a superb view of the rounded peak of Mount Sutton.

Who we are

  1. We are Louis and Shannon, he is Québecois and I am English-Canadian. We are a small family who loves to be on the move. Louis travels to the Canadian arctic for his anthropology projects and I am a freelance editor who works part-time from home and cares for our children.

Our kids are 4 and 2 years old and it's important for us to travel with them.

We began our family life in Nunavut, near the Arctic Circle, and have recently moved to Sutton into this home that Louis built several years ago. Our most notable passtimes are playing (says our daughter) and singing, reading, discussing, swimming, travelling, gardening, going on roadtrips, browsing at fleamarkets, and cooking and feasting!

Our first specific goal for home exchanging is with Aberdeen, Scotland, where Louis would like to do some research. Otherwise, we would love to find a family in Mexico or in France (especially Provence) to exchange houses with.

But please consider sending an offer for exchange from wherever you live, even if it's not one of these locations. We would love to have our imagination sparked by just such an unexpected offer!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The small town of Sutton is known for its ski hill and for its summer cottages for nearby city dwellers. We are just to the south of Montreal (one hour and 15 min. by car) and 15 km from Vermont and the United States border. We find this region to be the most beautiful we've seen anywhere in Québec -- that's why we live here!

In summer the municipal outdoor pool just down the street from us is a fantastic place for cooling off, and in winter the Mount Sutton ski hill is super for warming up! In autumn the mountains are a concert of colours and the agricultural fairs and antique sales are a hobbyist's dream.
