Our home

As this is our second home the exchange would not have to be simultaneous.

Small harbour-front property w/ loft & deck, located in quaint maritime fishing village of Deer Island. Sleeps 4. Totally renovated property dates back to late 1880's when it served as "Customs House."

More photos of the property on the website.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a mid 50's couple married 30 years. (one retired, one not). We are non smokers and we do not have any pets...There would be a "slight possibility" that another retired couple would join us, also non smokers.

We are interested in "downtown Montreal" (near a metro stop) or even "downtown Ottawa". Also interested in 3-7 day exchanges less than 1 day driving distance of New Brunswick..other Maritime Provinces, Eastern United States.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Deer Island is a small island in the Bay of Fundy in southern New Brunswick. Canada Quiet, tranquil. Population of approximately 1000. A very laid back, non touristy island....with fishing (lobster, herring, salmon etc) being the main source of income for most residents.

The free car ferry to Deer Island, New Brunswick is located approximately 50 km north from the US border crossing of Calais, Maine into St Stephen, New Brunswick or approximately 50km south of city of Saint John, New Brunswick. The ferry runs every 30 minutes year round from the area of St George, New Brunswick

Also, from late June to early September there are 2 extra car ferries ( small toll ) from the island..one to Campobello Island ( Roosevelt Home) and one to Eastport Maine. These 20 minute ferry rides easily qualify Campobello Island, NB... and Eastport, Maine.... and Saint John, New Brunswick for day trips from Deer Island.

Lots of salt air and ocean breezes. Very scenic.

Enjoy the fishing boats in the harbour, activity at the wharf, and the constantly changing tides. Take a stroll over to Bar Island at low tide to beachcomb for shells or seaglass.
