Our home

Our house is a charming and cozy place where we love to entertain our family and friends. It is a typical Canadian country house built in 2003. There are four bedrooms, one with a single bed, two with a double bed and the master bedroom, which is quite large, has a queen bed, one living room with a fireplace, a large kitchen with an adjoining dining room and a family room in the basement which is mostly used by our teenager. Our backyard is very private and has many trees, plants, flowers, a spa and we tend a vegetable garden when we spend summer here. Enjoy your meals cooked on the bbq and spend delightful evenings on our large terrace with its lovely view of the countryside.

We are presently in the process of installing a pool, therefore new pictures showing these changes will be posted eventually.

Who we are

  1. We are Andrée and Gaétan, two teachers in their fifties. We enjoy traveling to discover new cultures, meet new people, see different landscapes and architectures and, last but not least, eat great food. Our taste for the world is limitless: big cities, villages, sea, valley, mountain; we love and want to see everything. Our first home exchange in 2008 in Barcelona and the second in Andalusia in 2011 were just wonderful. In 2009, we realized our dream to drive across the United-States to California and back with our small camper. We take great care of our home and we will treat yours just the same but will expect the same in return. We will gladly provide more information upon request as well as references from our two exchanges.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live near a river and a bay, which is part of the southernest fjord in North America, in a quiet residential area of the city of Saguenay where people speak mostly French. The city has about 100,000 inhabitants and is about 500 km from Montréal and 200 km from Québec City. Our town, La Baie, and the Saguenay-Lac St-Jean region offer a wide variety of outdoor activities. The biking and walking trails with their fabulous views along the fjord are simply unique. You can also rent kayaks and admire the Saguenay River with its natural beauty or go see the whales in Tadoussac. Kite surfing is very popular in the Baie des Ha! Ha! or go fishing in one of numerous lakes around here. Camping is also very popular and we have an equipment to offer.

In winter (from December to March), our region offers an array of activities that will please everyone. Snowshoe right in the backyard of the house and end your journey in a hot tub. You can also choose from the numerous ski resorts, from the easy to the pro trails. Rent a snowmobile and ride the best trails in North America (snow is a rarity nowadays, but not here in Saguenay). Or, rent a small house for a day and try ice fishing on the Baie des Ha! Ha! and catch all different kinds of fish.

So, if you are an environmentally conscious nature-lover looking for wide and open spaces and, most of all, would like to get away from the crowd, don't look anywhere else on the planet: our place is the perfect jewel for you to discover!
