Our home

You would be staying in a 4 bedroom (including one sleeping area in basement), 2 bathroom home with all of the modern conveniences. The home was fully renovated in 2001, including a new kitchen and bathrooms. The Master Bedroom has a Queen-size bed and the other 2 upper bedrooms have 3/4 beds (larger than a single but not quite a double). The basement is partially finished with a pull-out Queen size bed and 42" high definition t.v. with over 500 channels, including numerous movie channels. The house sleeps 6 comfortably. At the back of the house is a lovely private courtyard with a patio and table for six and BBQ. This is where we eat most of our meals in the summer.

Our 2003 Pontiac Montana mini-van (seats 7 passengers) would also be available. We have 4 bikes (3 adult one child), 2 sets of golf clubs and camping equipment.

The Cottage is in St. Faustin, near Mont Tremblant, Quebec. It sleeps 10+ and is available as part of the exchange.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

As the national capital of Canada (bilingual city), Ottawa and the surrounding area provides a wide range of activities and tourist attractions. Ottawa is situated on the banks of the Ottawa river which also marks the border between Ontario and Quebec. Two other rivers and a historic canal system flow through the area. Ottawa has a world class bike path system and excellent hiking and swimming in fresh lakes in the Gatineau Region just 30 minutes drive away.

As a capital city, Ottawa offer numerous tourist attractions and excellent museums including: Parliament Hill (and changing of the guard ceremony), National Gallery of Canada, Canadian Museum of Civilization, Canadian War Museum, RCMP Stables (and musical ride), Byward Market with numerous restaurants, shops and good nightlife.

Our house is situated in a quiet neighborhood within 10 minute walking distance of the Ottawa River and bike paths. We are also within walking distance (10 min.) of a shopping mall (with large grocery store), public library and convenience stores. We are 20 minutes walk from Westboro, a trendy area of Ottawa with lots of shops and restaurants. Our house is a 12 minute drive or 30 minute bike ride to downtown with all the major attractions.

Ottawa is only a 2-hour (190 km) drive to Montreal, a 4 hour (400 km) drive to Toronto and 1 hour drive to the United States border (A drive to New York City would take approx. 10 hours).
