Our home

We own a large, 3-bedroom Victorian home with a private back garden. On the main floor we have an office (with computer, high-speed Internet, Wi-Fi throughout, & TV), a full bathroom with shower, and a sundrenched eat-in kitchen. The kitchen is huge with gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and all other modern conveniences. The kitchen leads into our living area, which is complete with a queen-sized pull-out sofa, TV, stereo and patio doors into our private garden. The garden has a deck with gas bar-b-que, table and chairs, and a 185-year-old maple tree for lots of shade and privacy.

The upstairs has 3 bedrooms and another full bath. Two bedrooms have queen-sized beds, and the other is our daughter's room with a double bed. The washer and dryer are in the basement. Our home is air-conditioned to remain cool during the summer. We also offer a cleaning lady who comes every 2 weeks. We have camping equipment for outdoor adventures.

Who we are

  1. My name is Craig and I am a secondary history teacher. My wife, Marie Josée is a civil servant with the Canadian government. We also have a beautiful and well travelled daughter, Elise, who was born December 2006. We are experienced home exchangers, having completed over 20 successful exchanges since 2000, allowing us to explore amazing places like Portugal, Hong Kong, Ecuador, Paris, Vienna, Thailand, Poland, Turkey, San Francisco, Stockholm, the Spanish Basque Country and Australia.

We would ideally, like to exchange with a family who also has childern although this is NOT a requirement! We generally like to exchange homes for 3-5 weeks in the summer, although we are also available during school holidays and Christmas breaks. We are also open to shorter exchanges (weekends, civic holidays) within Canada and the USA. As a school teacher, summer and school holidays are the only times I am available for extended travel. Please send us yoyr exchange offer and we will be sure to consider it!

  2. We love food, wine, culture, historical places and living like a local while on holiday. Please send us a message.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Ottawa is the capital city of Canada and one of the most beautiful cities in the country. As a city of 1.2 million people, Ottawa has hundreds of shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs, 17 national museums, 5 art galleries, numerous theatres and concert halls, the Parliament Buildings and, due to our location on the boarder of Québec and Ontario, our city is perfectly bilingual in English and French.

We live in Centretown, a tree-lined neighbourhood in the heart of the downtown. You can walk to shops, restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, pubs, nightclubs, shopping centres and every attraction in the downtown from our home. The local public transportation system is steps from our home and can get you to anywhere in the city quickly and efficiently..

Ottawa is a city devoted to outdoor activity and nature. Within a few minutes drive you can go white water rafting, hot air ballooning, swimming, hiking, cycling, canoeing, kayaking and rock climbing. Ottawa has over 450 kilometres of nature trails, 280 kilometres of paved bike trails, 10 fresh water beaches, Gatineau & Algonquin Parks, and 6 internationally renowned golf courses. Ottawa is located 2 hours west of Montreal, 1 hour from the USA, and equal distant between Toronto and Québec City.
