Our home

Our home is comfortable, clean, and spacious. It has a well-equipped kitchen, with adjoining dining room and an adjacent family room which opens to a large upper deck and panoramic views of the lake. The waterfront garden is very private, has an automatic sprinkler system, and provides us with summer vegetables and herbs. A self-contained suite, which opens directly to the lower deck, hot-tub, garden and dock, is available for exchange at any time. It is fitted with a pellet stove heater for cosy winter get-aways, and it is cool during the hot days of summer.

Who we are

  1. We are a retired couple, and we sometimes travel with 2 retired friends. Brian was a teacher, Betsy was a pediatric registered nurse. Both of us enjoy gardening, boating, fishing, long walks, birdwatching, and travel. Betsy is also interested in local shopping and markets she is an excellent cook. We have a medium sized, well-behaved dog who may travel with us depending on the destination and the circumstances. We are open to hosted exchange. We prefer to travel to sunny destinations during January, February, and March (i.e. Canadian winter), but we are open to other suggestions and possibilities.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in a rural neighbourhood, but there are excellent town shopping facilities within 10 minutes of our home which is within a 1/2 hour drive of the cities of Kelowna (south) and Vernon (north). There are producing orchards everywhere around our home. Many wineries dot the Okanagan lanscape. Of note is a local winery, the Gray Monk - 10 minute drive (excellent restaurant, but closed in winter) where wines may be tasted and purchased. The ski facilities of Silver Star (Vernon) and Big White (Kelowna) offer excellent and reasonably priced downhill and cross-country skiing in winter. Summers are hot and semi-arid. Swimming, boating, water-skiing and fishing in Okanagan Lake are favourite activities. There are 14 world-class golf courses, and many other tourist activities in the area (see http://www.tourismkelowna.com/).
