Our home

Our home was built in 2005 and is of stone/brick construction. It is comfortable and well equiped with most modern amenities including an effective climate control system. All appliances are new (2005).

The upper level consists of an open concept kitchen, dining room, and sitting room situated around a three way gas fireplace. The kitchen and dining room both open onto the rear deck which is equiped with a gas BBQ. There are two bedrooms on the upper level with queen sized beds. The flooring is oak hardwood except for the kitchen and washroom which are tile.

The third and fourth beds are situated on the lower level. There is a mini gym with treadmill, exercise bike, Bowflex Tread Climber and BowFlex (resistance machine). There is a large well equiped T.V. room with a pull-out sofa bed which can sleep two more, for a total of 10 for the house. There is a second washroom on the lower level. All lower level flooring is tile. A well equipped laundry room is situated on the lower level.

A car exchange may be arranged. Our cars include a diesel V.W. Passat (2012) seats 5, a gasoline Nissan Pathfinder SUV (2006) seats up to 7, auto transmission and 4X4, a 2005 BMW Z4 2 seat convertible, std. transmission.. Fuel costs around 1 Cdn $ per litre or under 5 Cdn $ per Imperial gallon as of 30th of June 16.

Who we are

  1. We are Joan and Jim, both in our early sixties.. Joan is a retired nurse and Jim is a retired police officer just retired from a second career in the electrical power generation industry. We have three sons living away from home.

This would be our 2nd home exchange and we expect there to be four traveling in our group, Joan, Jim and another retired couple. We are responsible people who would respect your property and privacy.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our home is situated in Kincardine, Ontario which is located on the eastern shore of Lake Huron, the second largest of the Great Lakes. Kincardine was established in the 1850's by Scot, English, Welsh and Irish settlers whose descendents comprise most of the current population of about 7000. It is 1 hour south west of Owen Sound by car. It is 2.5 hrs. west of Toronto by car, and 3 hrs. north of Detroit USA. Toronto would be the most convenient fly in destination from Europe. A car drop off could likely be arranged to accomodate your needs.

Our home is on a quiet street and within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, marina and a free public beach. The beach is a 15 minute walk or 2 to 3 minutes by car (free parking). It is becoming an increasingly more popular tourist location in Ontario but has not yet become as commercialized as many similar towns closer to Toronto.

There is golf, fishing, canoe/kayaking, diving, riding, hiking, camping, nature parks within a short (minutes) drive of our home. Our home would make an excellent base from which to explore small town Ontario. Learn more about Kincardine Ontario by going to:
