Our home

Our beautiful apartment is located in a Grade 2 listed (protected for it's historical interest) terraced building in the heart of Cheltenham. The building was built in 1833 by the Dutch East India company for retired sea captains to relax whilst taking in the famed spa water of Cheltenham. Formerly 6 grand houses there are now 16 apartments each still with many of the original features. Our apartment is on the 1st floor and has magnificent floor to ceiling height original sash windows. It has the original Georgian coving and picture rails and also boasts a working fireplace. There are three bedrooms, 2 still having the original fireplaces and the other stripped floor boards and an unusual door window overlooking the rear communal gardens. There is also a small bathroom and a kitchen with a magnificent window overlooking the gardens.

Your neighbourhood

We are in a quiet area just a 5 minute walk from Montpellier the fashionable and chic centre of Cheltenham, famed for its stylish shops and cafes. The walk takes you past row upon lovely row of Regency terraces all esquisitely proportioned. A further 5 minute walk takes you into the centre of Cheltenham renowned for shopping and antiques. The famous Promenade is only a 10 minute walk away - a small farmers market is held here on a Friday where, amongst other things you can buy some interesting local cheese. There are some fabulous restaurants in Cheltenham including one which is a stylishly converted art deco cinema! In its heydey Cheltenham was renowned as a spa town and the Pitville area, a 15 minute walk from our apartment, with its spreading lawns and elegant regency villas was a true social magnet. You can stroll around the ornamental lake, followed by afternoon tea in the Pump Room. Cheltenham is known as the gateway to the Cotswolds and has excellent transport links (including a bus and train service within walking distance of the apartment) to all the Cotswold towns and villages. There is a train service which travels to London several times a day - about a 2.5 hour trip into London Paddington.
