Our home

Built in 1928, our rustic farmhouse is cozy, casual and decorated in period antiques. There is a large covered deck off of the kitchen, great for having your morning coffee and watching birds and deer. There is a woodstove in the large country kitchen as well as a couch. 3 bedrooms upstairs and one down in a full basement, wash machine and clothesline, clawfoot tub in a large bathroom as well as a pantry. This house is run off of solar or electricity, your choice. Heating in the winter requires gathering of wood from this property which some may find labor intensive but it is free heat, and a beautiful way to enjoy the winter and get some exercise! We offer a T.V. DVD player, stereo, books, games, bikes and lots of peace, quiet and stargazing all a stonethrow away from the Canadian Rockies.

Who we are

  1. We are a family of 5 with 3 children aged 15, 13 and 12. We are passionate about traveling, nature and the outdoors. We recently returned from a 6 week trip to France, Belgium, Holland and Italy and are seriously considering buying a home in France and/or just emersing ourselves in the country and culture for an extended period of time, anywhere from 3 months to a year. House swapping would be an ideal way for us to have a home away from home while we looked for a place to buy or just to have a once in a lifetime opportunity to live abroad for an extended period of time and still have our life semi in order when we returned! It's very important to us to be able to see and do as much as we can with and for our kids while we have the opportunity. They have been raised in a rural setting and although it would be nice to do a rural swap, we would be very excited about being able to live in a small town/village as well. They have been brought up to be very respectful of other people and responsible and we have the utmost of confidence in their ability to act the same in any home with anyones property. My husband is a salesman in the oil industry and I work for the Town of Cochrane as a Recycling Depot Operator. We have 2 very small dogs that we would love to bring with us, but if they stood in the way of an exchange, we could make other arrangments for them over here.
