Our home

My house (built in 1911) is located in the one of the nicest and greenest part of the city. The house is very pleasant and have a warm atmosphere. It is built on 3 floors between the calm and beauty of the forest and the bustling city.
Ground floor:
*Entrance with beautiful original tiles, coat hangers for adults and children, blond-wood staircase, and WC.
*Lounge with sofa and a leather chair, a flat screen (40") (Asian-inspired decor, I'm Eurasian)
*Fully-equipped kitchen, open dining-room (square table 160x160cm and 8 comfortable leather seats) with big glass-windows overlooking the garden and terrace.
*The intermediate room between the lounge and the kitchen serves as a playground room (full of games in the cabinet!) and there is an electric piano.
The garden is facing South with a large terrace, a garden table and 8 chairs as well as a Weber gas BBQ. There is a wooden swing at the end of the garden.
1st floor:
*my bedroom with double bed 180x200cm overlooking the garden, and my wardrobe room and desk
*my daughter's bedroom (mezzanine 140x200cm)
*a big bathroom (bathtub, 2 sinks, WC)
2nd floor:
*my 2 boys bedrooms (1 bedromm 1 person, 1 bedroom 3 persons: 1 lower bed 140x200cm, upper bed 90x200cm)
Basement:
*a brand new shower room,
*laundry (washing machine, wire for hanging washing), 2nd fridge-freezer.
I also have a detached garage in a nearby street around the corner toward the forest with bicycles (2 adults + bikes for kids)

Who we are

  1. I am French, expatriate in Brussels since 1996. I am recently separated, I have three wonderful children (1 boy 9y and twins 1 boy, 1 girl 7y). I am responsible for promoting research activities in the field of Information and Communication Technologies for Health at the European Commission. I love traveling and my kids too! We like to walk and discover new places without being ourselves too much "tourists". We have not yet exchanged home but we'd love to try because I do not like to go to hotel with my kids. We would like to prepare our trip well in advance so I'd like to be able to have first contacts with you through email and skype. Above all, I do not want to take risks for my children. For this first time I might travel with a friend and her boy (4y).
We are looking for a great experience in a family ski resort (first time ski for my kids) in the French Alps or other ski resort in Austria or North of Italy easy to reach by train coming from Brussels.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Nearby the forest, Auderghem is one of the 19 Brussels' municipalities perfectly located southeast of Brussels. The house is located in a quiet one-way street in a quiet residential area. When walking in the beautiful forest (500m from the house) you can see animals such as deer, squirrels, etc.
You'll find at the corner of my street an excellent bakery! a pharmacy, a bookstore-press, 2 hairdressers, a beautician, a bank, two florists. you can also shop in 2 big supermarkets (Carrefour, Delhaize) down the road (700m) where you will also find the subway, several bus lines and the tramway.
Brussels is a wonderful (not too big) city easy to walk (metro and tram available -http://www.stib.be). Many nice places, restaurants, beers and wine bars, museums, etc (http://www.belgiumtheplaceto.be/). During Christmas period, lots of markets (Grand-Place is the biggest one http://www.bruxelles.be/artdet.cfm/4952).
The highway to Wallonia and Luxembourg is also 500m away from the house. We are at 5mn from the "ring" (the motorway to go wherever you want! : the seaside and Flanders (Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp, etc), the Ardennes, Wallonia (Namur, Wavre (shopping and Walibi and Aqualibi Parcs), Louvain-la-Neuve (Tintin museum, shopping mall).
From Brussels you can easily and quickly reach the main European capitals:
- Paris (265 km) 1h15 by TGV
- DisneyLand Paris or Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle airport (TGV ~1h)
- Amsterdam (170kms) TGV
- London (319kms) Eurostar
- Cologne (180km) Thalys/TGV
- Luxembourg (186km) TGV
