Our home

110 m2 stylish apartment in the city-center of Vienna (3rd district - Ungargasse) plus small flat in the mountains (Semmering). Vienna apartment: constructed in the 1870s it has all the imperial stereotypes: lovely old parquet floors, 4m ceiling, high double doors to all rooms, etc. Living room, dining room, kitchen (incl. dishwasher and washingmachine), master bedroom, study/2nd bedroom, bathroom, separate toilet and entry hall. The apartment will accomodate up to four people (2 double beds). I am on the second floor (lift included). Should you have Google Earth, the exact coordinates are: 48°11'59.30" N 16°23'13.97" E Map: Semmering apartment: only 1 hour from Vienna (1 1/2 by train), the ski&health resort of Semmering provides a perfect contrast to the city. It's quiet, green (or white in winter), fresh air, etc. In summer you can go hiking up the mountains, mountainbiking or just chill out in the 2000m2 garden and enjoy the sun and the views. In winter you can ski, cross-country ski, go sledging, etc. The flat is in a monumental building from 1895 (it used to be a spa hotel). We have a small 45m2 flat on the 2nd floor which can accomodate up to 4 persons. More pictures available soon as the apartment is currently being renovated.

Who we are

  1. I was born in 1973 in Holland, I moved to Vienna in 2000 to start working here. I have a master's degree in Business and work for I am a passionate no-smoker, enjoy travelling and outdoor activities such as biking, hiking and skiing. My first home exchange was in July 2006 where we visited Montreal for 2 weeks. After this very positive experience, I became a big fan of the home exchange concept and I have exchanged flats with folks from Berlin, Paris, London, Rome, Bruges, Toulon, Prague & Suffolk.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The Vienna apartment is in the Botschaftsviertel (embassy quarter) as most of the embassies are located here. Across the street, you look at the Italian embassy (located in a palais from 1750). It is about 8 minutes on foot to Wien Mitte (metro), Stadtpark, Karlsplatz or Belvedere Palace (all downtown). The Ahrenbergpark is about 2mins from my flat which has a nice café for breakfast in the sun or take one of our picnic blankets and chill in the park. A Billa supermarket is around the corner. Tramline O and bus 4A stop in front of the neighbouring house. Parking is very difficult, so better leave your car at home. The Imperial Riding School hotel is 200m away and offers valet parking but it's not cheap. Better use Vienna's excellent public transport instead. In addition, the apartment is conveniently located near Rennweg train station which has a direct connection to Vienna International Airport, so you can take the S-Bahn which takes you straight there in 20 minutes for only EUR3. For those that have already seen the town, the apartment offers an excellent platform to visit this part of Europe. From Südbahnhof (major railway station, 3 stops with tramline O) there are excellent and fast connections to Neusiedlersee (lake), Bratislava, Wachau area, etc (all within 1 hour). And of course to my flat in Semmering. From Semmering station, it is about a 10min walk to the house. A car would be convenient but is not necessary.
