Our home

Our home is comfortable, clean, and spacious. It has a large kitchen with adjoining dining room and library. We have five bedrooms, two bathrooms, and some additional rooms (office, TV room etc.). Around the house there is a 3000 m2 garden. As we prefer to spend our money on books, music and travel, we do not own a "luxurious" palace, but rather a warm and cozy family home in a quiet corner of our village.

Kids and pets are very welcome!

Who we are

  1. Stefan is a university professor at the University of Vienna; Manuela does some free lance work, but is mostly full time grandma to our grandson (age 5), who is living with us. The kids are grown up: The twins live in Denmark and Norway, the youngest daughter close by.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We're living in a small village about 20 km from Vienna. There are two city train stops in our village, and it takes about 30-40 min to get to downtown Vienna or any other place in Vienna (train tickets, which can be used in all of Vienna; are comparatively cheap).

As we have a very nice neighborhood, help is always available when needed. It's a two minutes walk to the next local pub, where you can get local wine & food.

The area doesn't look exactly very "Austrian", as the next mountains are about one hour drive away on either side (Lower Carpathians in Slovakia, the lower Alps on the other side of Vienna). But we are right in the middle of Austria's vineyard, the so called "Weinviertel". For people, who love bicycling, the area is just perfect (and you can use our bikes as well).

Vienna is, of course, the music capital of the world. Besides you'll find museums, galleries, about two dozen different theaters (some of them using English), and lots and lots of history at every street corner.

Bratislava is about 30km away (we have a train connection), Budapest and Prague about 3 - 4 hrs. drive by car.
