“Our family of 5 had a lovely stay in St. Gilgen at the apartment of Colette and Tim. We loved the view over the Wolfgang Lake and the mountains. It is perfect situated close to shops, skiing and wonderful walks. The apartment is well equipped and contains everything you need for a pleasant stay. We can only recommend to exchange homes with Colette and Tim.”

“We had a great relaxed time at Wolfgangsee, a place that your eyes and body can enjoy by any weather. The apartment was very comfortable, well equipped, quiet and sure. The family was very nice and helpful for any recommendation and tips we needed. We could go back anytime to that beautiful place and can recommend it highly.”
“The exchange with the Simpson family went very smooth. We immediately loved the balcony with breathtaking views of the church, lake, mountains, and the village below. We were most comfortable during our stay and looked forward each evening to enjoying wine on the balcony while looking out on that beautiful view. We also took daytrips to surrounding areas enjoying castles, lakes, churches and the local people. The Simpson\'s were excellent guests at our condo in Florida. We would highly recommend an exchange with Tim and Colette.”
Who we are
-
My husband Tim works for an airline and I (Colette) now work for a telecom company. We are both in our forties and have an 11 year old son called Matthew who loves going to new places. We live and work in Cheshire, England and because our apartment is a holiday home we can offer non-simultaneous exchanges. We are still fairly new to home exchange, but have rented the flat many times. We love coming to our apartment, but are also looking forward to seeing new places via home exchange. We would respect other homes as much as our own.

Where is it?
Your neighbourhood
St Gilgen is a small village on the shores of Lake Wolfgang in the heart of the Austrian lake district, Salzkammergut. The apartment is about 15 minutes walk from the village centre. The village has banks, supermarkets as well as local gift shops. During the summer months one may swim in the lake from the beach. Cycling is very popular and bikes may be hired locally to explore the area using the extensive cycle paths. During the winter there are numerous ski resorts within an hour offering excellent facilities for all levels. A car is useful, but the local public trnsport is excellent. Ski buses also run from the village to the local Postalm resort which is small, but ideal for beginners and families. For more information have a look at www.wolfgangsee.at for the local area. Also, a larger ski resort is Dachstein West (approx 50 mins drive away). The website is www.dachstein.at which is available in many languages including English. The beautiful city of Salzburg is less than 30 mins away by car or 50 mins by bus. Salzburg is brimming with culture, museums, architecture and festivals and is a must for any Mozart fan. The house where he was born in the city centre now houses a very interesting museum about his life and works. The nearest airport is Salzburg, but Munich (approx 2-3hrs away) is also accessible by road or rail and offers a greater variety of flights.
