Our home

Our home is a two storey, semi-detached house, in a pretty garden. Upstairs are the main bedroom with ensuite, a twin room, a single room, and the family bathroom. Downstairs are the sitting room, dining room, study/workroom with single sofa bed, small library, kitchen, laundry and toilet. Outside at the front there is a small courtyard, and at the back there is a terrace overlooking the garden. There is a single garage and carport. Heating is ducted gas, and there is an evaporative cooler (a/c) for hot weather. The house is comfortably furnished.

Who we are

  1. We are Diana and John, two retired professionals. We are non-smokers. We like walking, bird watching, the beach, and visiting galleries, museums and country houses. We are interested in classical music and antiques. We are very house proud, and will take good care of your home. We have completed several successful house swaps and house sits.

We are looking for an exchange in Europe in the autumn of 2018. Otherwise surprise us! We would like to be in or near the country, with easy access to nice walks and scenery, and we would like to swap cars.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in the suburb of Yarralumla, one street away from Lake Burley Griffin. There are lots of nice walks in nearby Weston Park, and along the lake shore to east and west. There are plenty of Kangaroos in Weston Park, and a playground. We are also close to the Parliament, museums and art galleries.

Yarralumla shops are about 10 minutes walk, where there is a small supermarket, pharmacy, butcher, bakery, and several good cafes and restaurants.

The city centre is about 10 minutes drive (20 on the bus). There is a large shopping mall with department stores and specialty shops, and many restaurants and cafes.

The foodie areas of Braddon, Manuka and Kingston are not far away.
Several national parks and nature reserves are close by.

Canberra is 3 hours to Sydney by car, and 2.5 hours to the south coast at Batemans Bay, which has many nice quiet beaches. It is also about 2.5 hours to the ski resorts of Perisher and Thredbo.

We are happy to exchange cars. We have a medium sized station wagon (seats 5), and a small city car (seats 4).
