Our home

Everyone loves Sydney and our home is by the beach, close to everything Sydney offers. It's full of light and open space, very tastefully decorated and well presented.Upon entering, the back garden is visible as you walk along the polished wooden floors down to a lower level living area. The sliding glass doors open onto the level, private garden with shade and dining/lounging areas, plus a shaded Asian inspired gazebo. The blue and white bathroom is large and quite beautiful with huge, deep bath and separate shower, the master bedroom also large. Our 1920's home is semi detached but has the feeling and lay out of a detached home. There are 2 living areas, one is an office/study with a gas fireplace, nice in winter. The main one about 60 sq metres open plan with kitchen opening onto garden/paved courtyard outdoor dining. Colours are primarily white and blue, a little bit Provencal in appearance. Always, neat, clean. Some original 1920's features; leadlight windows, skirting boards, architraves, picture rails, polished wooden floors throughout (carpet in bedrooms). The house is more than large enough for a family of 3 or 4, though 2 children would have to share the 2nd bedroom. Colourful Australian parrots and kookaburras come into the garden quite often. The kitchen is modern, glossy white and generous in size. Heating for winter and fans for summer

Who we are

  1. In our late 40's; Dana, Australian, Jean-Michel French but after 20 years here a patriotic Aussie too. Our daughter 15, mature, responsible and a complete joy. She speaks French and is learning Italian, so a European offer would be nice. Dana is a Tour Director of over 25 years,in Europe, all over Australia and NZ (so at least you know you will have detailed tourism advice!) Dana is also a Professional Speaker/MC and stand up comic. Jean Michel is a Head Chef, putting in about a dozen seasons in Club Meds all over the world. After 30 years in the kitchen and having his own Sydney restaurant, is now enjoying more simple catering and also works as a home renovator/handyman (so you know that he can fix any little thing that goes wrong in your home) Our home is always clean, tidy, well presented and we are proud of it. Rest assured that your home would be looked after by considerate and tidy people who have years of experience maintaining a garden and a home and have already done 3 successful House Swaps. We think we are pretty blessed to live in Sydney and know that you will adore this vibrant, sparkling, visually stunning, multicultural harbour city of great natural beauty.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Maroubra is a southern eastern suburb with all the shops, restaurants, transport at your door. 30 min bus/ 20 min drive to city, harbour bridge, Opera House, The Rocks, and Darling Harbour. As Maroubra is home to the French School of Sydney, there are quite a lot of French people in the area. Our local beach is a beautiful white sand surfing beach 10 mins walk or a 2min drive from our home.See the photos also of the rock pool, great for doing laps. There are nearby national parks and quiet little bays for boating, fishing, kayaking, hiking. Also 5 mins away is Coogee, a major destination for overseas travellers;always lively, full of restaurants and nightlife. There is a well known stunning coastal walk from Maroubra all the way to Bondi, Sydney's famous beach. Being so close to the coast,we enjoy the cooler NE breezes in summer,22 to 30 degrees, winter days are around 10 to 18 degrees and Spring and Autumn about 19 to 24..in fact you can swim for about 9 mths of the year. Outdoor concerts, galleries, museums, the historical heart of Sydneyare popular attractions. Overall, Maroubra is regarded as a great place to live to enjoy Sydney to the fullest...you could stay in our home and then another elsewhere in Australia and make a real journey of it!
