Our home

Our home is a delightful large 30 year old spacious coastal home with views from the front over Malua Bay 3 hours south of Sydney and 2 hours east of Canberra (Australia's capital city) The view from the back deck is into forest where there are sometimes kangaroos and possums. Both harmless unless you are a vegetable plant in my garden!! There are no pets. From the front verandah you enter a large vaulted living room which adjoins the dining area. There is a fireplace and 5 large windows letting in sunlight and sea breezes. The kitchen has stainless steel gas cooktop and double electric oven. A large fridge/freezer, microwave and walk-in pantry make food preparation easy. A sitting room is next to kitchen. There are 4 bedrooms-one used as an office. The main bedroom with an en suite is on a mezzanine 5 steps below the main level at back of house. The climate is mild to warm. There are electric and gas heaters for June-Aug but no artificial air conditioning is needed-sea breezes do it all. Our home gives us great pleasure and we would like to share it with others who would enjoy it also.

Who we are

  1. Both Geraldine and I have had varied career paths-Agriculture for both of us, army, telecommunications, and building for me, teaching and business for Geraldine. We are organised, clean and tidy, non smokers, love food and cooking,(and of course the odd glass of wine) read a lot, enjoy walking and staying fit. We enjoy exploring places and meeting people and like to go to fewer places for longer periods. Our curiosity about the world is undimmed!! We are often away from home with our small caravan doing other things, with the exception of our summer period when we like to be home with family and friends. We have 2 cars, one being a 1994 Toyota Camry (no cup holders!) in really good condition and a Volvo XC70 2008 model. The use of cars would depend on reciprical arrangement.
Please, Geraldine and I would prefer not to winter in Europe or the UK as many of the coach day trips do not happen, days are too short, and many attractions are closed. We particularly emphasise those living in the northern hemisphere should consider visiting southern parts of Australia during the shoulder seasons as our weather is at its best (neither too hot or too cold).
We are looking for exchanges in 2014. We will reply to all enquiries!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our street is a cul de sac on a ridge behind a beach. Mostly neighbours are active retirees-friendly but not intrusive (our previous house sitters and exchangers have enjoyed the neighbourhood) Malua Bay(Pop2000) is 15 km from the larger centre Batemans Bay (Pop15,000)where there are all facilities. At Malua Bay is a shopping centre, Bowling Club with restaurant, tennis courts and several very beautiful beaches. In the area are golf clubs, interesting drives-coastal and mountains. There are buses from the bottom of the hill to the towns north and south and to Canberra and Sydney. Rex Airlines operate out of Moruya Airport which is 15 minutes away and offer daily flights to Sydney or Melbourne.
