Our home

My home is on the side of a mountain. It is 2 story. My son and I live on the upper level which has long, narrow, covered verandah's all around. The views from the length of the house are of the wonderful forrested hills. From the front of the house you can see the distant shoreline and the ocean. We are surrounded by trees, bushland and wonderful coloured parrots sit on our verandah rails. Upstairs we have my bedroon, attached office, walk in closet and large bathroom. My son's bedroom has a bathroom across the hall. Our living/ dining room is quite large with cathedral ceilings and wooden floors. A lot of glass and great views. A rather small but modern kitchen. Separate apartment downstairs with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, cosy dining/living room.

Who we are

  1. I'm Jodi and my 23 year old son is Chip. We have lived mostly in the USA but came to this delightful spot for my retirement. Although retired, I still travel a bit within Australia, exhibiting antique jewellery. It's more of a hobby than anything now. We live on a hillside and although it was bushland, we have spent quite a bit of time planting native bushes and tropicals on the steep slopes. It is a lot of work and sometimes gets a bit out of hand as everything grows so much here in summertime.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our mountain has a population of 6000 people. My house is a 15 minute drive from the small village. A general store is a 5 minute drive away. The wonderful Gold Coast with it's shopping, fabulous beaches and night life is about a 40 minute drive away. Brisbane, our nearest major city is 1hour15 minutes away. The mountain has a golf course, 2 hotels with tennis courts and a small swimming pool. No fast food or movie theatres here (You can drive to the coast) A quaint country atmosphere. We are noted for our fabulous views, gardens, birds and craft shops. Some good restaurants but otherwise, not much to do at night on the mountain. This is a beautiful and serene place but close to places of more action.
