Our home

Our home is a comfortably modernised Edwardian-era family cottage on a large garden block with in-ground pool. It's in a quiet street but only a very short walk (less than 100 metres) to local shops including cafes and supermarket. Train and tram are on your doorstep making this a perfect holiday location. Great local Indian, Malaysion and Japanese restaurants (to name a few). 15 minutes to downtown Melbourne by train or head the other direction to beaches and the Mornington Peninsula. Or tram to St Kilda or the arts precinct. The house normally accommodates a family of book and music lovers. In winter the house is a cosy retreat after a day out. When the weather warms up the beautiful courtyard dining (with barbecue) and the pool come into their own. There are interesting artworks throughout and a great ambiance created by the numerous garden outlooks.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We're a family of three with interests in literature, music and art. Our house is filled with original artworks and books, and if you're musical there are numerous instruments (including guitars and piano) you're welcome to use during your stay. Pauline is a public sector professional and I am an artist and writer who runs a local government public art program. Our son is in the senior years of high school and we have a cat who really runs the place (she doesn't necessarily go with the house but will be affectionate if you're a cat-person).

Your neighbourhood

100 metres from train (13 minutes to city centre), tram and a bustling shopping strip (supermarket plus all amenities) this is the perfect location for getting out and about in Melbourne. The large Indian community means great curries or there's a great seletion of other fantastic cafes and eateries. For families Melbourne's best playground is around the corner at Booran Park. Tram takes you straight to St Kilda or arts precinct. Nearby bus to St Kilda Beach. The house is in a quiet street but just a minute from all amenities. Parks, walking and cycling are fantastic and there's even trout fishing in the stocked dam at nearby Caulfield Racecourse, home of some of Australia's most prestigious horse races.
