Our home

Our air conditioned, rammed earth home which was in 2004 featured on a national TV programme highlighting the benefits of home swap holidays, is situated on an elevated, 2.5 acre site overlooking the Indian Ocean and the port city of Geraldton. Designed for our retirement, it is a comfortable, easy care home, single storey, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms(ensuite has a spa), home office with computers, fax etc and many books. Living room has 2 glass walls to maximize the 270 degree ocean views. As Geraldton has a mediterranean climate with sunny winter days and much of our rain falling over night, the patio and verandah encourage year round outdoor meals. For more information about our area check out our local website www.geraldtontourist.com.au

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are in a semi-rural area 10 minutes from Sunset Beach and 15 minutes from the city centre, although there are shopping centres much closer. Ours is a quiet area with friendly, but not intrusive neighbours. Enjoy walking or riding on quiet roads(with sea views) around the neighbourhood. Population 35 000, the Geraldton-Greenough area is called the Wind Surfing Capital as wind surfers from around the world visit each year. 400 kms north of Perth it is a good stepping off point for visiting outback sheep and cattle stations. Visitors from all over Australia, as well as international tourists, throng to our hinterland in Spring when our famed Western Australian wildflowers are in full bloom.
The area has a burgeoning wine industry which is becoming recognised Australia wide.
Our city Aquarena is open year round for indoor and outdoor swimming and there are many popular, safe swimming beaches close by.
Whatever your interests,if you wish, we can arrange for you to meet like-minded people. Previous exchangees joined a Bridge Club,a Golf Club and the Yacht Club where they were made to feel very welcome and which we were able to arrange easily for them. Other exchangees ran with the Harriers club, played local sooccer & even a game of Aussie Rules Football!
The city caters very well for Seniors & their interests.
At the end of each day relax on the front patio with a local wine and watch the sunset over the ocean.
