Our home

THIS HOUSE IS AVAILABLE OVER CHRISTMAS 2012 and January 2013 for a non-simultaneous exchange later in 2013.

My home is clean, comfortable and spacious in a quiet suburb of Byron Bay. It has 3 bedrooms and a small study. The main bedroom has an ensuite and a queen size bed. One of the smaller bedrooms has a queen size bed and the other a double bed.
The kitchen has a gas cook-top and an electric oven with a small adjacent dining area. There is a covered verandah along the whole length of the house with a small palm-filled garden and a small organic herb garden at the rear of the house.

Who we are

  1. My name is Christine and I am a fit and healthy senior citizen. Although I live alone at the present I have 3 lovely daughters and 2 grand-children who all live nearby. I prefer to travel with a friend or one of my daughters. I was born and raised in Ireland and have lived in Germany and England. I am a keen gardener and a member of Seed Savers -a local group involved in growing and preserving heritage varieties of vegetables. I have just enjoyed two exchanges in France (one in Paris and one near Montpellier), both wonderful experiences, and am keen to explore other regions of France in 2012.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Byron Bay is the most easterly point of Australia. It is a popular holiday resort for both australian and overseas visitors who enjoy the beautiful, unpolluted beaches and the many related activities, such as snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing and whale watching (between June and November. My suburb is called Sunrise Beach and is about 3k out of town but sadly there are no beach views. It is, however, quiet and only a short walk to the nearest beach. If you do not wish to go into town there is a shopping centre within easy walking distance with supermarket and all necessary shops, such as chemist etc. There is a weekly farmers' market in Byron which offers local and mostly organic fruit and vegetables and a colourful market on the first Sunday of each month where you can find a selection of local arts and crafts.
