Our home

Our home is just nine months old and is very spacious comfortable and clean, and offers a typical open plan home made for the tropics. We are located on a 960m2 block...fully fenced back garden so ideal for a young family..such as ourselves! We have a beautiful pool complete with spa, waterfall and waterslide (Great Fun For The kids and Adults too!!) That is fully and securely fenced which it has to be here by law, and therefore safe for the little ones as they can't get in to the pool area without supervision. We live in a lovely close cul de sac of nine other houses and is a very new neighbourhood based at the foot of the mountains.
Our home is a 5 bedroomed brick home, open plan living, dining and kitchen area. Fully aircondioned in every room (as very necessary in the tropics!), we have a seperate laundry with washing mashine and dryer. It is very child/fanily friendly. We have a back patio overlooking the pool and you can see the mountains also, a trampoline with safety net (perfect for the kids!). Our house is all on one level as are many here built for the tropical lifestyle.

Property features

Who we are

  1. Phil is an Area Manager for Caroma Dorf Australia and has one of the loveliest areas in the world!, I have my own small internet business which I run from home around our young family whilst looking after our three beuatiful children Our little boy Cooper is 6, and our two little princesses Jasmin age 3 and Charlee 9 months
Phil is originally from Brisbane and I am originally from the UK.
We have lived in Cairns for eight years and totally call it our home now.
We are hoping to do a house swap with someone in West Sussex ideally near Haywards Heath as thats where I am from and we want to go back and visit my parents, my Sister and her family, and all our dear friends. We would also like to spend dometime in Cork Ireland (we have relatives in Macroom, Clonakilty and Killeagh so anywhere near there would be ideal!)
We are planning to be away from Dec 2008 and January 2009 so the dates for the house swap do not have to exactly match as we are only looking for a week in Ireland and four weeks in England but will b away around 7 weeks in total.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our tropical environment is very beautiful to live in. We live at the foot of the mountains and only 15 minutes into the centre of Cairns. Our local shopping centre is only a five minute drive and provides everything you need groceries, post office, chemist, clothes shop, stationers, doctors and is currently being expanded to provide even more!
In Cairns there is plenty to do with a fantastic free for all lagoon style pool with man made beach, bbq's and lots of grass...perfect for a day out if you don't want to go to the beach. There is also a childrens water playground called "Muddies" again free for all at the northern end of the esplanade. The beaches are half an hour north of us, Cairns is your ideal location for trips to the Great Barrier Reef and is an ideal holiday destination if you like the sunshine. There are three major shopping centres and several smaller ones. Public transport is good and the bus stops at the end of our street and goes straight into the centre of Cairns. In Summer months the temperature is low to mid nineties, in winter high seventies to mid eighties so it is pretty warm all year round. The wet season (summer) can be very ....wet!...with many tropical downpours but its still warm! The humidity can get a bit intense...hence we live in the air conditioning and in the pool! Cairns is a great destination to explore at your leisure. Plenty to see and do.
