Our home

Beachfront, really is true to its name; cross the road and you are swimming at Park Beach. Walk ten minutes up the beach to beautiful Macauleys Headland where the Great Dividing Range meets the ocean. Across this headland is lovely Digger's Beach.

Our two-bedroom, second-floor apartment is light and airy with lots of glass and sliding doors which open on to three balconies so you can always find a breeze. The east and west balconies look on to trees. The main bedroom opens on to the third balcony, the largest of the three. The second bedroom, which opens on to the west balcony, is an office space but has a double bed available for visitors. There's an open lounge/dining/kitchen area adjoining the east-facing deck where you can relax and eat. A parking space is provided in a secure underground car park and there is an elevator.

Who we are

  1. We are Willa and Peter. We retired here from Sydney in 1999, Willa from teaching and Peter from journalism. Willa is interested in writing; Peter has also been a professional photographer and couples this interest with filmmaking. We have both lived and worked overseas in England, Canada, Mexico and China. We still love travelling and have recently visited London, Spain, Bali and New Zealand. We've also enjoyed extensive camping trips through central Australia and the Kimberly and Pilbara regions in West Australia. And we've done house swaps in New Zealand and several in Tasmania and Sydney.

Peter has five children (and five grand children) living in Sydney. We enjoy returning to the big smoke for a burst of family and city culture. We are interested in bike riding, swimming, walking, movies, theatre, and reading. We love this area because it's environmentally clean and peaceful.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Park Beach is the place to watch hot-shot local surfers or have a swim yourself. Or you can use Beachfront's private swimming pool. A lovely 20-minute walk north over the headland takes you to Diggers Beach with its wide horseshoe bay, also a good surfing beach. Or, you can walk south along the beach to the marina. Lunch at the yacht club. Get fresh fish from the Co-op.

Park Beach Plaza, a major shopping centre, is a two-minute drive away (or a walk) and there is a five-minute drive to either downtown Coffs Harbour or the jetty strip with its variety of restaurants and cafes. Just south of Coffs is the award-winning Flooded Gums restaurant. Within a walking distance of our apartment is our favourite local cafe, OP 81, as well as two other cafes and a surf club cafe. We shop at the Thursday Farmers' Market for local fresh vegetables and there are several weekend markets with entertainment and food stalls.

Sawtell, a ten-minute drive away, has a trendy cafe scene and a great cinema for art house films and film festivals. Then there's Bellingen, 40 minutes away with its historic streetscape, interesting shops and cafes and a huge monthly market. There are a dozen National Parks within a few hours' drive including the world heritage Dorrigo Rainforest. We adjoin the Solitary Island Marine Park, which offers very good diving. Whale watching is a seasonal thrill and there are dolphins year round.

The Coffs Harbour airport is a ten-minute drive away: Sydney is an hour's flight, Brisbane, a little less. Sydney is a six-hour drive and Brisbane five.

For golfers, nearby Bonville Golf resort is a three-time winner of Australia's Leading Golf Resort from the World Travel Awards and boasts a classy restaurant. There are half a dozen other links in the area.
