Our home

Our house was completely rebuilt in 2005. It sits on the banks of the crystal clear South Mossman River with a beautiful 30m swimming hole we smim in daily. The sounds of the water flowing over the rocks leading to and from the swimming hole create a peace and ambience that is difficult to put into words.

The property comprises 3 acres (1 hectare) of rainforest, river and tropical ochard. It is a green paradise only 10mins drive to Port Douglas. It is very private, each large bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and toilet featuring Chillagoe marble and Seraphic glass.

The kitchen has all the usual modern conveniences from dishwasher and gas cooktop, to toaster. A second smaller kitchen downstairs also has a gas cooktop we use for entertaining. The bifold doors open up completly creating an indoor outdoor space to move between.

The garden and grounds are a special feature. We have over 50 tropical fruit trees, star apples, mangos, breadfruit, jackfruit, bananas, a long and interesting list. We have worked hard on the gardens over the last 10 years, enjoy...

The views from the decks are through the rainforest to the river only 30 steps from the house. The outlook is for us, and any visitors we have, the magnetic and unique feature of our property. A tropical paradise, we love it!

Who we are

  1. Robyn and I (Marcus) are keen travallers and walkers. We haven't done a house exchange before, seems like a great concept. We are in our 40's and pretty active. Our house in North Queenland is also in a holiday rental pool, details of "Riverside" are on the website.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The property is 72 km north of Cairns, 10km north of Port Douglas and 7 km South of Mossman. Cairns and Port Douglas are the gateways to the Great barrier Reef and the World Heritage listed Wet Tropics Daintree National Park. Indeed it's the only location on Earth where two World Heratage areas are next to each other.
Our house sits on 3 acres in an area of mixed use with sugar cane farms and other houses on acreage.
The hills and mountains around are tree clad, the flat areas given over to the cane farms. In any season the environment has great beauty, our favourite season is the winter from March to October and the high wet season during Febuary and March.
It's a 5 min drive to Mossman or 10 mins to Mossman Gorge National Park-the most visited National Park in Australia. 10 minutes drive South is Port Douglas with over 70 restaurants, the Marina Mirage and Sheraton Mirage and numerous upmarket accomodation houses. It's here you book trips to the Great Barrier Reef.
North past Mossman is the Daintree River, Cape Tribulation and The heart of the Wet Tropics World Heritage area.
There is a lot to do and no excuse to be bored.
