Our home

Our home is very spacious and well appointed, with huge living areas both inside and out. It is fully airconditioned and screened. You will always be able to find some peace and quite regardless of the number in your party. It sleeps 8 comfortably in 2 double rooms and 2 twins, with room for a few more if need be. Ideal for two families. The setting is very private and is literally a self contained resort/villa set in 3 acres of manicured lawns and tropical gardens. The property has a terrific outlook 360 degrees with views stretching from ocean beyond the canefields to lush rainforest and mountains. The home is a destination in its own right equally appealling to adults seeking R&R and to children / teenagers.

Activities to keep everyone occupied include, swimming tennis, ping pong, home theatre, mountain bikes, kids bikes, trikes and scooters, rollerblades, basketball, baseball, cricket, soccer, badminton, volleyball. This is kid heaven. Minibikes are available by special arrangement with a track on the property. There is a trampoline, swings and heaps of toys for the little ones.

The property is bordered by a seasonal creek and mountainous rainforest, with a trail suitable for walking and mountainbiking running behind the property.

The kitchen is well appointed with marble and European appliances, opening out to a huge thatched pavillion by the pool and spa, perfect for entertaining. Smoking in the outdoor areas is fine.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a young family with four children in residence aged 4,6,8 and 10. Our oldest son lives in the Victorian Alps. The youngest three being girls. We are very much outdoor people and, given the location of our home, ironically snow skiing is our favourite sport. The children are accomplished skiers having had success in various competitions during the past couple of years.

It is this passion for skiing that has led us to listing our home on this site. We are happy to consider a home swap in any ski resort in Australia or overseas, and are certainly open to long term swaps. With short term swaps we only need a 2 bedroom appartment that sleeps 6 and on longer term swaps we would need some extra room. We are particularly interested in doing a complete season, that is Christmas to Easter in the Northern Hemisphere or Term 3 in the Southern Hemisphere.

We are open minded to any offers and the timing of the swap does not necessarily have to coincide as we spend a lot of time away and only need our laptops to work.

We are involved in the tourism industry and as such are happy to share our knowledge with you to help plan an itinerary for your stay.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The property is located at the head of the Redlynch Valley in a semi rural area less than 15 mins from Cairns CBD and the Beaches. Just 5 mins in one direction to the famous Crystal Cascades swimming holes and waterfalls and Lake Placid in the other direction. A large supermarket and shopping centre are only minutes away. It is a very quite neighborhood which is pleasant to walk or cycle around, and is the most central acreage in Cairns.

Cairns is a very popular holiday destination with its main drawcards being its tropical climate, and close proximity to The Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage Listed Rainforests. Beyond the Great Dividing Range is the scenic Atherton Tablelands and then the Gulf Savanah, all an easy drive away. Heading north there is Palm Cove, Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation and the Daintree.

As well as lovely beaches we have plenty of streams and rivers to swim in. There are seven golf courses comfortably within an hours drive, with the best, Paradise Palms only 15 mins away, as are the Yorkeys Knob and Palm Cove Novatel Courses.

As the websites listed show, the tourism industry is very refined with tours and activities to suit any taste, for example: Marlin fishing, rafting, scuba diving, snorkeling, bungy jumping, skydiving, trekking, mountain bike tours, motorcyle and SUV tours, go carting, horseriding, and wildlife tours (including crocodiles, emus, koalas and kangaroos).
