Who we are

  1. We are Steve and Diane, a married couple with two adult children. We own a hardware store in Bundaberg. We both enjoy travelling when able to get away. We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try what sounds a great way to see another country as a resident - and allow someone to see yours. We would expect to arrange an exchange some way in advance in order to get to know our fellow exchangers via email first to see how best we can facilitate their stay in the Australia.
Some years ago I travelled to Washington State and BC as team leader on a Rotary Group study exchange. I loved it so much I promised to take Di back and show her this beautiful part of the world.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The largest of the seaside townships, Bargara is only 13 kilometres east of Bundaberg and it is experiencing a development boom. A variety of accommodation including first class oceanfront apartments, resorts, motels and backpackers is available. A boat ramp near the clock provides a launching spot for a small craft. Fishing is possible off the beach, the rocks and offshore. There are plenty of park areas for picnic tables. An excellent golf course, bowling green with tennis courts provides venues for the sports minded and children are well taken care of with playgrounds and skating facilities.
The Gateway to the barrier reaf.

Kelly's Beach has two swimming areas, sea front and causeway, so is attractive to surfers and small children. Sailing catamarans can be launched from the beach here and a hire company has boogie boards, surf skis, deck chairs and catamaran available.

The Basin, is situated at the northern end of Kelly's Beach, was created by the construction of a wall of basalt rocks to make a calm water beach. It was built by the Kanaka settlers who were brought to Bundaberg to work on the cane fields in the 1880's.
