Our home

We live in the country on 2.5 acres. Our home is a spacious, modern brick house. It has large, open living areas. There are 4 large bedrooms. The sitting room has a piano. We have a good size library. There is a wide screen TV with a large collection of current DVDs. Outside, there is a large Bali Pavillion where we spend a lot of time. It overlooks the small lake which has abundant wildlfe - lots of water birds, tortoises, fish. A large gas barbecue is undercover in the courtyard. Plenty of room to play outside, kick a ball, a game of cricket etc. The yard is fully fenced.

Who we are

  1. My name is Karen. I am ex- teacher. My husband, James and I are in our late 40's. We now design and make old style country furniture. We have 3 daughters, who have grown and left home. Skye and Jade are married, Ebony is at university doing Teaching. They all live in Brisbane. So, we are empty-nesters! We love to travel and have taken our daughters all around the world from a young age. This would be our first time at home exchange. We think this would be a great way to really get to know the locals. We love the UK. We are looking at anything up to 5 weeks this year. In 2007, we would like to stay about 1-3 months and are somewhat flexible with the dates.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in the country. The town is about 7 minutes drive. It is a small town with Woolworths for groceries, coffee shop, library, clothes shops, bakery, butchers, international golf club, restaurants etc. 20 minutes away is a large shopping plaza with cinema and everything else you could need. Brisbane is only 40 minutes away. Here there is shopping, museums, galleries, river parks, theatre, swimming and everything else you find in a cosmopolitan city. The famous Gold Coast is less than an hour south. Beaches, shoppping, Dreamworld Amusement Park, Wet 'n' Wild Water Park, Sea World and Warner Brothers Movie World to name only a few. One of our best local features is the Tamborine Mountains which is only 25 minutes away. It offers spectacular panoramic views of the Gold Coast and hinterland. National Parks, cafes, coffee shops, locally made hand crafts. There are many local wineries, which also have restaurants set in lovely locations.
