Our home

My home is a basic but charming 3 bedroom timber home on stilts. Inside there is a cottage feel. Timber floors throughout and high ceilings with wooden rafters. Nicely tiled bathroom with bath.
I'm using it as a bachelor's pad, but there are 3 bedrooms. One I use for guests, the other is my office (with satellite broadband and fax). I run my business from home, so I spend many hours here very comfortably.
The house is well suited to the subtropical climate with many windows and doors and two verandahs.

Property features

Who we are

  1. I'm a (currently single) Dutch guy who came to Australia in 1995, fell in love with both country and local girl, and never left. I work in IT, have run my local business for years and currently run a business based in Holland with two mates. This is one of the main reasons why I'm going to be in Amsterdam for 3 months - apart from seeing old buildings. Which is just about the only thing I miss here. Just love the lifestyle and the beach.
If you come here I'll be happy to give you a list of suggestions of how to best enjoy this paradise, or maybe you just want to find out on your own.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

I live in on of the worlds most beautiful areas: the Byron Bay area on Australia's east coast. I basically came here for a holiday and never left.
The house is close to the beach (10 min walk) in a suburb in the north of Byron Shire. Brunswick Heads, nice fishing village, is 5 min away. Byron itself, which has been called an 'urban village' is a 20 min drive. Byron has plenty of life and coffeshops, restaurants, and of course incomparable, sheltered beaches. Surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking etc.
The hinterland is spectacular. Subtropical rainforest walks abound. This area is a green island in red and dry Australia.
For more action, Gold Coast is 1 hour north and Brisbane 2. Sydney is 10 hours south.
