As an optional part of the exchange contract, you can purchase "Accommodation Insurance", which protects your travel plans in case your exchange partner is forced to cancel the deal due to illness, death in the family or other viable reasons covered by the insurance. So if your exchange partner is forced to cancel the agreement within 6 months of the start of your exchange for illness or other specific unforseen circumstances, you don't have to cancel your trip as well. You can purchase an insurance and HomeForExchange.com will payout a certain amount per day up to a maximum of 30 days of your planned trip. This payment can be applied towards alternative accommodation in our near your original destination. A few important things to realize:
- This insurance only covers a cancellation of the party you have closed a home exchange deal with. It does not cover a cancellation due to your own circumstances.
- You must have a completed and digitally signed home exchange contract if you want to insure yourself against a possible cancellation.
- Your exchange partner must agree to supply proof of a possible cancellation, which is part of the conditions page of the home exchange contract.
