You will notice that the Google Map is probably zoomable after you have entered your address details. This is appreciated by most members as they can find out exactly where they might be going to.
Note: supplying your address details is optional. Some members don't want to expose their exact location of their home for privacy reasons.
A 'recommendation' is a possitive feedback of a member of HomeForExchange about a past exchange with another member. Recommendations may work encouraging, inspiring and it will certainly increase the trust in other members.

It is adviced to post recommendations after all your exchanges and we encourage members to ask their exchange partners to write recommendations when they have return home satisfied. Listings which have received recommendations will appear higher up in all result lists. This means more exposure for your home and thus more chance to receive offers from other members.
Every search in the listing database gives you a list of properties showing the brief details. This is called a 'result list'. After the search result list you can go one step further and view the details of these properties by clicking on the 'view details' link.
All members can view the performance of their own listing on the 'my performance' page. One of the data shown is the 'Number of times my listing has been part of result lists'. This gives you an indication of how many members are looking for properties in your country or State/province.
You may want to go directly to a specific house, of which you know the ID#. From the homepage of HomeForExchange.com, click on the link 'Advanced Search' and enter the ID# at the bottom of this page.
All listing from members who want to travel within 30 days from today, are regarded as 'last minutes'. Listings will be placed automatically in the 'Last minutes' list.
All members will see the link 'my performance' in the right hand side panel called 'My links'. Here you can select 'Number of times my listing's details have been viewed'. This shows the number of times members have clicked on the 'view details' link of your listing. So it's a realistic indication of members interested in your home.

Yes. On the Advanced Search page you can enter your country and province/state. This search will find members who want to come to your region. You can combine these criteria with other search criteria to find suitable members to exchange with. On the 'result list' you can further filter these results with the advanced 'refine search'.
Your ID# is the unique key to find your listing. If your friends are interested in home exchange, tell them to go directly to your listing by going to www.HomeForExchange.com/ID=????. This will bring them directly to your own detailed information page.
Alternatively they can go to the Advanced Search page and enter your ID# there.
Exchanges for a period longer than four weeks are called 'long term exchanges'. Many members are interested in such exchanges and this setting can be enabled on the 'Options and settings page'.
Hint: some members are interested in very long exchanges of six months or more. If this applies to you we recommend you to mention this clearly in your personal notes.
In most cases this applies to homes in a rural location or in neighborhoods outside city centers where public transport may not be available.
We are using the services offered by Google Maps and thus we are depending on their regularity of updating the satellite images. According to Google Maps support section all photos are updated approximately once every three years. Google Maps quote: "We strive to update our data regularly. Unfortunately, we're not able to provide detailed information about when a specific area will be updated. Also, we don't offer high resolution data by order, as this information is added as it becomes available from our data providers."
A 'homepage' is a public accessible web page about yourself or your family or your home. Many people have their own homepage or website and you can add this internet address to your information. Note: only logged on members can view this information, it's not available to non-members.
The default notation is not to show any source reference. So if you don't mark the checkbox for this your name will not be mentioned. You may however want to include your name and link to your own home as this will increase your exposure on HomeForExchange.com and thus increase the chance to find suitable partners to exchange with.
