My home is comfortable and casually furnished in Southwest style with terracotta tiles and warm colors. The living, dining and kitchen area is backed by large picture windows with no exterior wall or obstruction to block the pleasant view of the pool and basin which is a natural habitat for small fury critters and native high desert trees and shrubs. There are many interesting pioneer-related historical sites here for visiting. For excitement, take a 90 minute drive (or use the shuttle) to Las Vegas for a stage show or night on the town. St. George is not far from many of nature's own amusement parks, including wondrous Zion National Park, Lake Mead and breathtaking Grand Canyon (see map). I also have a condo that is rented (or exchanged) to vacationers year-round, depending on availability; just ask. Travel does not have to simultaneous; the condo or use of my guest bedroom (sleeps 2) is an option to consider. Because the pool is just outside the patio door of the home, please only inquire if your children are aged 12 or older. I would like to divide a 1 month stay abroad into 1 or 2 weeks and then swap with different parties for guest stays in my home or condo.

Many people have a second home in St. George because the winters are mild with occasional snow, but most days are sunny and bright. My neighborhood is upscale but in walking distance of a golf course and hiking trails winding through hilly wilderness land. Snow tops beautiful Pine Mountain in the winter. Shopping is only 5 minutes away on the down side of the hill--anything you might need is close by. St. George is about 3,000 ft. above sea level and quasi considered high desert. Temperatures are very mild and lovely in spring and fall. June, July and August can be very warm (90-110 deg. average) but it's a dry heat. A short 45 min. drive to Zion will cool you off. Now you can fly directly to the NEW airport in St. George where Avis, Budget, Enterprise and Hertz offer rental cars. You can also fly to Las Vegas and rent a car there for the 90 minute drive to St. George. Something about ourselves

I'm a photographer and writer, specializing in travel photography (retired from county government as a public relations officer). I also operate a nonprofit organization that trains photographers to capture beautiful images of children who have very special needs (disability and serious illness). Since I don't have a huge income with my current activities, I use my home to help offset travel expenses. Home exchange provides such a wonderful opportunity! I sometimes travel with a friend or perhaps a widow or two who can use some good R & R.
