We live in a historic neighborhood that is safe and quiet, yet less than 2 miles from the many attractions of downtown San Antonio. The city is famous for its 17th-century Spanish missions including the Alamo, "shrine of Texas liberty." And of course, the Riverwalk with its water taxis, river theater, river parades, many open-air restaurants, clubs and bars. Visitors also love El Mercado, a large Mexican market with weekend fiestas, dances and shows. The San Antonio Spurs play home games about 3 miles from our condo. Settled by Spaniards from the Canary Islands, and later a part of Mexico, San Antonio is a bilingual, bicultural city that knows how to preserve its culture. The annual Fiesta San Antonio (in mid-April) is a 10-day party that spreads all over the city. The spectacular lighting of the River at Christmas time brings visitors from around the world. Buddy is a retired Army sergeant-major and Sharon is a retired journalist. We love to travel at a leisurely pace and would like to share our San Antonio retreat with others who would enjoy this wonderful city. ![]()
