Our cabin is heaven on earth. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, alongside the North Fork of the New River, our home is perfect for the active sports family, or just right to relax and let the sounds of the river take you away. We have canoes and intertubes available to enjoy the river, as well as fishing gear, hiking trails, and mountain biking nearby. (Fishing permit required by NC). Those wanting to slow down can swing in the hammock by the river or rock on the front porch, perhaps while reading a book in the cool mountain air. If it gets too cool, just turn on the gas fireplace in the den.
The cabin has 3 bedrooms (Queen/Full/Full,Twin,Twin), and 1 bathroom (shower, no tub). The den adjoins the dining room (table seats 8). The kitchen has stove/oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven and is fully equiped. The cabin and all rooms are small, but you will want to live on the front porch. The front porch faces the water with full river, scenic,mountain and wildlife views. The cabin has beds for 8 and 2 sofas in the den, but 8 will be cozy! Many times, we have shared the cabin with another family and had hours of joy. There is no TV, because the real show here is nature. Our kids never miss it. We have the cabin well stocked with puzzles, games, books, and journals. Our cabin is heaven on earth. The blue cabin is 5 miles north of Jefferson on the North Fork of the New River. There are neighbors nearby for safety, but not close enough to bother you! The town of West Jefferson has become an art mecca with beautiful galleries and shops to enjoy, as well as the local Cheese factory tour, and the two churches with gorgeous frescoes.

Just down the road 1 mile, is the local country store where locals gather on Friday nights to play bluegrass music like they have for over 100 years. There are many hiking, fishing, and golfing
areas to choose from nearby. It is an easy 30 minute drive over to the Virginia Creeper.

Public parks nearby have tennis and playgrounds for the kids. Ashe County is VERY safe. We let the kids run free on the property. Al is an optometrist (eye doctor) and Debbie a teacher. We love traveling with our teenage daughters, but when we are at home, we often weekend at our cabin. The cabin is rustic and very relaxing. It is where we go to LIVE with our family. The cabin is for spending time and making memories as a family. We have had MANY visitors to our cabin over the years, and everyone loves the chance to slow down and live. We love visiting other people's homes, and promise to treat your property with respect. I am an Eagle Scout; we always strive to leave things better than we found them. We have many more stars than whereever you live! As a second home, the schedule into the cabin is flexible, but is best in Spring, Summer or Autumn as Winter gets very cold and snowy. We also have timeshare with availability in New York City (see our listing #43072),(see our listing #42079) Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Los Angelos, Myrtle Beach (SC), New Orleans, Williamsburg, Hawaii, and Washington DC . There are literally 100s of places we can book our timeshare and we would work with you to find availability and book you in as our guest. We have booked our timeshare for many guest before and they are all beautiful modern accommodations.
