Description of our house
Our one bedroom, one bathroom apartment is on the 18th floor. It looks out over Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood to the south, east and west including the axis of 23rd Street from the East River to the Hudson River. Sunsets are thrilling. The bathroom is standard: bathtub with shower, sink, and toilet. It has a window. The large galley style kitchen also has a window. The bed is queen size. There is ample closet space. We have a balcony with a view of the Empire State Building from one corner. There is a laundry room on the ground floor. Two elevators provide good service. Decor is minimal. There is a sofa bed in the living room. Although the apartment sleeps four people, we prefer to exchange with only two people. We have a second home in the Hamptons where we will go when you come to stay at our apartment. That is why we prefer to do a non-simultaneous exchange.

Our neighborhoodWe are in Chelsea, the new art gallery center of NYC and the center of gay life in NYC. The streets below 23rd Street are lined with characteristic NYC brownstones the rooftops of which are visible from our apartment. The newly fashionable meat packing district of 14th Street is nearby. Subways are a block (A,C,E on Eighth Avenue) or two (1,2,3 on Seventh Avenue) away. Bus lines on 23rd Street and 9th Avenue run frequently. The Hudson River Park, offering riverside access to Manhattan's perimeter, is three blocks away. We are two uptown subway stops from the theater district and four stops from Lincoln Center. Greenwich Village is two downtown stops away. There is a supermarket across the street, and Whole Foods supermarket is two blocks away. There are many restaurants in the area especially on Eighth Avenue between 23rd Street and 14th Street.

Something about ourselvesWe are a gay male couple. We are both retired from successful professional careers. We prefer to travel to urban areas where we can sample the cultural life there particularly the art, architecture and music. We are opera fans. We enjoy classical music concerts. We like to get up early, enjoy a good breakfast and then spend the day exploring our new environment. We prefer getting around on foot and by public transportation. We like to go to bed early. Quiet and restful sleeping accommodations are imperative. We are most definitely not into the club scene. We are considerate and respectful of our hosts wherever we stay, and expect the same in return. We prefer to do a non-simultaneous exchange with two persons, but we are also open to simultaneous exchanges.
