Description of our house
[
![]() ]
Our home is in Somerville, Massachusetts, a small city adjacent to Boston and Cambridge. The house is "small but tall", perched on a hillside which gives a view of much of the city from its third floor deck, just outside of the master bedroom, which has a queen-sized bed. There are two other decks, one with a dining table just outside the kitchen, which has a view of a small garden, and one outside of the guest room, with two single beds, which allows access to the garden. There is a tv room with extensive cable, and a living room with gas fireplace which also faces into the kitchen. There is a cat in residence, which can be boarded or remain in place, according to your wishes. There is also a fishtank, which takes minimal care.

The house is on a quiet street, with congenial neighbors of all ages and backgrounds. You may walk or take the "T", Boston's public transportation system of buses, subways, and trains, to shopping, excellent restaurants, movie theaters, concerts, and sporting events. We can see Harvard University, and walk to Harvard Square, Davis Square, which has an independent movie and performance theater and more restaurants, and Union Square, with its excellent Saturday farmers' market. It is possible to take the same public transportation either to the country for the day, or to a number of excellent beaches, including Provincetown on Cape Cod (using the high speed ferry). Guests describe Boston as America's most European city. We love the cultural opportunities it offers, the closeness to woods and ocean, the history, the wonderful bookstores and museums, independent film and excellent theater, and green spaces within the city, and are happy to be able to share them. We are a lesbian couple in our 60's, one semi-retired but still active as a teacher trainer and potter, one working as a psychotherapist. We enjoy cooking and eating with friends, choral singing, visiting artist's studios, being outdoors, traveling to interesting places, independent film and classical music, and reading. We have completed three wonderful exchanges, and can provide references from our exchange families. We are careful and tidy people, and will be sure to treat your home with respect. ![]()
