Looking for month of March, 2016, preferably Italy. Open for other times, Non-simultaneous exchange is fine
Our comfortable, gracious condo is in a lovely brick row house. It has lots of sunlight from the living/dining room bay windows, where branches from our tree lined street provide a private oasis. We have city views in the distance from the three bedroom windows. There is a separate kitchen area open to the main living space (with breakfast bar seating) /frig/stove/sink/dishwasher/disposal. The bedroom is a good size with closet space. The bathroom has a bathtub/shower. The apartment is furnished comfortably but free of any clutter. One of the two living area sofas opens up to a bed. The apartment is on the fourth floor of a three apartment dwelling, with gracious carpeted hall and stairs. Oak stairs in the apartment lead up to the private roof deck, with gorgeous city views including the CHristian Science Monitor Church and the Prudential Tower. We can be flexible with exchanges, exchanging at different times.
Our neighborhood is lovely South End, Boston, an area of charming row-homes dating from the late l9th Century. Our short, quiet street ends at the South End Corridor,a narrow park with flowers/shrubs which widens, some yards down, to basketball and tennis courts. At the other end of our street you will find a main street with several good local restaurants and shops, pizza places and bars. WIthin walking distance is Copley Square and Prudential and Newbury Street, all great shopping locales. Also within walking distance is Symphony Hall (three blocks) and the Museum of Fine Arts (a 10 to 15 minute walk). Public transportation is a block away. (Subway line/buses) Cambridge Ma is a direct l0 to 15 minute bus ride. Boston is very much a walking city. Within 20 to 25 minutes you can be in the public gardens, the boston commons, theatres or at the State house. There are MANY historic sites to see, dating back to the AMerican Revolution and charming old neighborhoods such as the Italian North End and an area of Chinese restaurants and shops. There are many museums.
We are energetic and between us - creative, artistic, practical and handy (one in the arts, one in construction). Bob is an avid sailor. We tend to like the activities of city life, but like being near the ocean. We prefer being where we can walk or ride bikes to explore a city, tho we don't mind having to drive places. We have one daughter, recently out of school. If appropriate and room, a slim chance she would join us on a trip, tho she lives/works in another city and probably not likely. We would always check with our exchanger to see if that's alright. We are open to places other than on our list. For example, we'd like to explore more places in the U.S.; possibly New Mexico or Charlotte, Virginia or Annapolis, Md. ANd we'd love to see Prague. We're open to most areas of Italy.
