Description of our house
[
![]() ]
Our house is situated in the woods in a quiet small town. It has 3 bedrooms (1 with bunkbeds and a pullout bed, 1 with a queen bed and the third has a double bed). We recently added the huge master bedroom with large windows looking out towards the pond and forest. A hot tub is off the master bedroom. The dining room leads into the recently modernized kitchen and that leads into a family room with a woodstove, comfortable seating and a washer and dryer. The "Florida" room, with sliding glass doors is our favorite place to sit and watch birds or woodland animals. There is also a side porch, 3 bathrooms (2 full) and a garage and workroom. We have a small pond, full of frogs and small fish and 35 acres with trails that we've marked. The house is warm and cozy when it is cold out but stays cool in the summer.

The house is located on the Blue Hill peninsula, with interesting towns including Castine, Ellsworth and Bar Harbor nearby. Acadia National Park is about 45 minutes from the house and is one of the most popular national parks in the eastern US, with many beautiful vistas and various levels of hikes. There are used bookstores and flea markets to explore, excellent restaurants close by and endless woods right outside the house. There are many activities including boat trips to nearby islands, whale watching, hiking and almost any other outdoor activity. It is also a very relaxing area where you can just read and enjoy nature. ![]() Something about ourselves

We are Bruce and Marcia, a 60+ year old couple, who have owned this house since the youngest of our 3 adult children was a baby. We often come up for long weekends, just to relax or spend more time hiking, and enjoying the outdoors. Bruce is an eye doctor and I am a special education teacher. We live in Boston and have had home exchangers stay with us there before going up to Maine. We have traveled extensively and thought home exchanging sounded like a great idea (and it has been). We love this house and think you will too! ![]()
