North Michigan Avenue is known as the "Magnificent Mile" and is the premier shopping district in Chicago. We are in the middle of shops, restaurants, clubs, theaters, museums, and cultural attractions. The Oak Street beach is a ten-minute walk from our front door, and we can see it from our apartment. There is a city park with a children's playground one block east of us; across from the park is the Museum of Contemporary Art. Beyond the museum the park continues with public tennis courts, a running track, exercise stations, and playing fields. There are walking paths and bicycle paths along the lakefront.

We are flanked by two major universities. Northwestern University is to the east, and Loyola University to the west. The Northwestern University campus houses the Law School and the College of Medicine. Northwestern University Hospital is just to the south.

Public transportation is abundant. Ten different bus lines pass by the building, and there is a subway station two blocks away. It's possible to get to all the major attractions in Chicago without having to drive.

Terence, age 69, is an Emeritus Professor; he was a member of the faculty of the College of Business at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. He maintains a small accounting and tax practice in Chicago. Isabel, age 66, is an adult nurse practitioner; she is currently teaching nursing in Chicago. We have traveled widely during the 42 years we have been married. We've visited all 50 states in the USA, most of Canada, and more than 40 countries around the world. Our son and his wife live near us with their two children. We have recently begun to travel with Annabel (age 8) and William (age 4). We have had a successful exchange in 2010 and look forward to more.
