Hilo and the Puna region are lush and green.
Though small town and relatively rural, they are quite possibly the most liberal regions in Hawaii!
We have yoga based communities as well as communities which are Vegetarian, or Vegan. There are gay communities as well as alternative farming communities.
The city of Hilo, located on the east side of the island about 40 minutes north of our location in Puna, is the second largest city in Hawaii but by comparison to other cities it is rather small and quaint.
The island of Hawaii is divided into two basic areas; the West where it is dry, great beaches and lots of "tourist" stuff very much like Waikiki. It is about three hours drive away.
However, if you are looking for a different Hawaii that is more laid back and easygoing then the east side of the Big Island is for you!

My name is Mojo. I was born in England, parents from Trinidad, dad from Canada. I have traveled to 33 countries around the world. My girlfriend Linda is from New Jersey but now living here with me in Hawaii!
Though we love our life in Hawaiian paradise, we also both love traveling and having new experiences!
We enjoy doing yoga, Linda is also a yoga teacher, and when we travel we like to attend nearby yoga classes. Because we live in the jungle and manage and eco-hostel we enjoy vacations in progressive bicycle friendly cities.
If we get along and the exchange goes well we are open to do it again! My name is Mojo. I was born in England, parents from Trinidad, dad from Canada. I have traveled to 33 countries around the world. My girlfriend Linda is from New Jersey but now living here with me in Hawaii!
