Our condo is located in gated community known as Pelican Cove, which many people describe as paradise. The community is on 72 acres which fronts the Little Sarasota Bay. Our community has several thousand extremely mature trees with large amounts of Spanish moss hanging from them. We have 6 swimming pools (one heated to 85 degrees), a hot tub, four tennis courts, and three club houses which include an exercise room, ping pong, bridge games, a grand piano, art, photography, a wood working studio, a library, dancing and exercise programs and more. The community includes its own harbor with an 80 slip boat marina, and a walking path along the bay with a gazebo where you can watch the sunset and the jumping fish and, of course, the birds, as we are a bird sanctuary. There are 5 miles of walking nature trails, exotic trees and shrubs in Pelican Cove. Around 65% of the people who live in our community are only here from November to April so in the summer, it is very quiet (and not all activities are available). Most of the year round residents are retired. The community is very welcoming and friendly. ![]() Something about ourselves

My husband and I are both in our sixties and retired. I was a civil rights attorney for most of my career and also the CEO of a large non-profit organization for which I am now a part-time consultant. I also run a very small internet business. My husband worked as a high government official though most of his career and, for the last 10 years, as a lobbyist/consultant for hospitals and human service organizations. We enjoy walking, playing bridge, tennis, kayaking, reading, movies, politics, travel, and spending time with our seven grandchildren. Pelican Cove is our winter home; we live the rest of the year in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We have done two home exchanges -- one in Paris and one in Amsterdam. ![]()
