Description of our house

We live on the second floor of a 16 unit condominium that is located about 1/3 mile (500 m) from Sombrero Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Florida Keys. There are two building in our condominium and we have a lot of greenspace. Our condo is recently renovated with an open floor plan and a number of environmentally friendly upgrades. It is like a treehouse with lush palm foliage shading both the front windows on the porch and the back windows of the bedroom. We have a king-sized bed, a large screen HDTV with cable, and a stereo music system. We both love to cook so our kitchen is designed to indulge this passion. The floors are tile throughout and the bathroom has a large walk-in shower. Our home has high-speed wireless internet which is perfect for laptops. We keep our home clean and love living here immensely. Our condo only sleeps two, and our association rules prohibit visitors from having children and pets so, please, we can only have two adults exchange with us.

Our condominium is located 500 m from beautiful Sombrero Beach, and 1.5 miles from shops which can be reached via a pretty and well-lit bike/walking path or by car. We are on a mangrove-lined canal that connects to the ocean and affords many opportunities for exploration via our kayak and 'hydrobike' which are available for use (contact us for information about these.) A city bus stop is located 1.5 miles away and goes to either Key West (1 hour away) or Miami (2 hours away.) Key West has some of the best dining anywhere not to mention some very colorful local flavor. The coral reef is located 5 miles offshore and there are numerous dive shops and charter fishing boats that go both to the reef or to the back country including Florida Bay for backcountry fishing. The Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park is about 2 hours away by car. Bahia Honda State Park, an incredible gem for snorkeling or sunbathing, is located about 15 min by car or bus. We are a professional couple in our 40's (her) and 50s (him). We have not done a home exchange before but are eager to give it a try. She is a teacher and he is a marine biologist. We would like to get to know the people with whom we will exchange homes in advance so we can make suggestions on how to best ensure their vacation exceeds their expectations. We both have a passion for photography and hope any exchange will provide an opportunity to combine our loves for cuisine and photography in an urban or rural setting. He has cycled extensively in the U.S. and France and welcomes opportunities to also add cycling to the exchange.
