Treasure Island is an island in The Gulf of Mexico approximately 3 miles from St. Petersburgh.
The Island is connected to the mainland by bridges. The area is very peaceful and quiet, yet offers the best of two worlds. You can enjoy a relaxing vacation. Write a book or read one. Swim and be lazy in the sun. Cook your own food and watch TV or if you are in the adventurous mood, go parasailing, waterskiing, ride a boat to an uninhabited island, watch the dolphins jumping in the water, or go on a dinner cruise to international waters and gamble in the casino onboard.
If you do not want to cook or barbeque, the area restaurants offers native cuisine from many countries and also typical Southern country food, also called cracker food. It is not fancy, but extremely tasteful.
Some restaurant are located right on the beach. They have tables in the sand and you can watch the sunset while you dine in your bathing suit.
Tampa International is the nearest major airport. It is a 45 minutes drive. Bush Gardens is located in Tampa. It's a zoo, but different in that the people are in cages and the animals are free.
Disney World, Epcot Center, Universal Studios, MGM is located in Orlando, which is a 2 and 1 half hour drive from Treasure Island. Kennedy Space Center is close to Orlando.
You could spend months and never see all the entertainment close to the Beach Cottage on Treasure Island.
