Our neighborhoodOur home is located on the Island of Venice, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico. Venice Island is a delightful place to stroll the downtown boulevard separated by a park for walkers and joggers and step into shops, boutiques, and restaurants built in the Mediterranean-revival style or stop by the gazebo for some entertainment. Our home is located in a residential neighborhood about 5 minutes from Venice Beach (where a coral reef is located a quarter mile offshore for snorkling and scuba diving, or take a walk for miles along one of the many Venice Island beaches.) The Venetian Walkway, a ten mile paved walking and biking path is 1 block away. Downtown Venice, the grocery store, pharmacy and hospital are 5 minutes away by car or you can walk or bike to them if you would like. Venice Island is great because you can bike everywhere. The downtown is wonderful and the people are friendly. Venice is 20 minutes from Siesta Key, named one of the ten best beaches in the world. Sarasota is 20 minutes, Tampa 75 minutes, Orlando 2 hours (Disney) and Ft. Meyers 75 minutes away. The Van Wezel performing Arts Center is in Sarasota and has many stars performing there.
Dining on the Gulf Coast presents a delicious dilemma. There are so many choices from fine dining to casual around every corner. The sunsets on the Gulf of Mexico are spectacular and unforgetable. Many of the locals and visitors meet at Venice Beach to watch the sunset on the Gulf.
Your lawn chairs are awaiting your arrival.

Something about ourselvesWe are Ray and Marlyce. Ray is semi-retired from Real Estate. Marlyce, a Doctor of Education, is semi-retired from educational consulting and university teaching, where she is currently an adjunct instructor.
We are in our early 60s and both love to travel. We have traveled to Europe approx. every other year , or more, since the 70's. We have been to England, Wales, France, Germany. Netherlands (our son-in-law's family live there) and Belgium.
We enjoy meeting people and making new friends.
We have been married 42 years and have a daughter Jill, son-in-law Jack (Dutch). Our grandchildren, Alex 9 and Emma 6 are adorable and we see them quite often.
We have had two very successful and fun exchanges. We are quick to make travel plans and look forward to hearing from you. There are many reasons to come to the Gulf Coast of Florida, but none greater than the picture-postcard, crystal-white sands and turquoise waters of this beautiful area. The beaches not only provide fun for everyone, they are also good for body and soul.
