We live in a very special place - it's a modern loft in a historic building in Downtown Washington, DC. In our home design, we have blended the modern elements of an urban loft with some old world, warm and comfortable furniture and fixtures. Our spacious 8th floor condo (1430 sq.ft.) offers 14 windows with city views, an open concept living - dining - kitchen area, a master suite with a queen-sized bed and big modern master bathroom, a second bedroom/library/office with a queen-sized pull out couch, and a large second bathroom, plus an elevator and a friendly concierge at the front desk of the building. We hope that our guests will enjoy not only all the modern amenities of our home, but also all the pleasures of staying in Downtown Washington, DC, just five blocks away from the White House.

We live in the middle of Penn Quarter/ Old Downtown Washington, DC. It is a unique neighborhood with beautiful 19th century to modern architecture that showcases Washington not only as the political capital of the USA, but also as a major cultural center, world class cosmopolitan city, and at the same time a small and cozy neighborhood with its special local cultural flair. Our home is in the theater district, and steps away from all the (free) Smithsonian museums of the National Mall. Right next door to us is the National Portrait Gallery/American Art Museum, round the corner are Madame Tussauds wax museum, International Spy museum, Ford's Theater, Verizon Center sports complex, the National Archives, the Newseum, DC's finest restaurants, Pennsylvania Avenue, and the White House. To put it simply, everything DC has to offer is right outside our front door or you can walk to it within 3-15 minutes. And if you want to see more, two metro stations where all 5 branches of the Washington metro system come together are each just one block away. Plus Baltimore (1 hr), Philadelphia (2 hrs) and NYC (3-4 hrs) are all a resonable train, rental car or bus ride away. We'd be very happy to give you tips on restaurants, theaters, neighborhoods, sights, and anything else you might want to experience in our beloved DC.

My name is Iryna, 36, and I'm originally from Odessa, Ukraine. My husband Phil, 50, is originally from New York. I'm a high school English teacher and Phil is a management consultant in the nonprofit world. We love traveling, visiting major cities, learning more about other cultures, and are excited about the opportunity to do so not so much as tourists, but local style. We've had two great experiences so far with a home exchange, and we're excited to make new friends in other parts of the world. We enjoy reading, movies, theater, music, and architecture. Phil collects (and loves to share) wine, and I like beaches, swimming and suntanning. Obviously, a lot of destinations fit this list. We're interested in a US or Carribean vacation for two or three weeks during the summer of 2012. We have a special and beautiful home to offer and promise to take care of yours as well as we take care of our own. Try us-we respond to all offers!
