Our super-insulated, solar family home is in a mountain valley above Ouray at 8600 feet, has 2 bedrooms with double beds, open plan living room and kitchen with window walls, views of many high peaks. It is filled with items from our extensive travels as overseas teachers. The house is heated with a wood stove and is warm and cozy winter and summer. There is a full kitchen with propane range and a full pantry. If you are musical there is a baby grand Steinway piano.

We are located 2 miles up the Camp Bird road,good gravel, towards Imogene Pass (13000 Feet). Summer activities: hiking, mountain climbing, jeeping. Winter activities: skiing, area and cross country, snowshoeing, low elevation hiking. There are many museums and galleries, art shows in the Ouray, Ridgway, Telluride area. Ouray has a very large hot springs pool, lovely all year long. From our door you can go hiking, skiing in winter, or just sit on the porch swing or couch and enjoy priceless views. Our "yard" is wild with a small lawn and deck, aspen meadow and many fur and spruce trees. We are in a small subdivision with a few neighbors and mostly National Forest around us. We are a mountain climate with cool summers, max 80-85 and snow on the ground all winter. Our home is an ideal "cabin in the mountains" for a very different vacation and a great base for exploring SW Colorado and eastern Utah- mountain and desert all close by. Something about ourselves

We are a retired overseas teaching couple with twin children, age 36, Julie lives nearby with her husband and Ken is a world traveler and works for NOLS. We love outdoor activities and travel, river running, sailing, hiking, mountain climbing, sea kayaking, camping. We are looking forward to doing house exchanges, seems like a wonderful way to travel. We have lived in Ouray for 25 years, keeping our home here while teaching overseas. We don't have a TV, instead read lots of books.
