Stunning alpine Lake Tahoe (264km) with its multitude of scenic spots and beaches is where you can enjoy all manner of water sports. Yosemite (264 km) where shear granite cliffs offer exciting rock climbing opportunities, incredible waterfalls roar into scenic valleys, and limitless hiking abounds is a great overnight destination. Reno, Nevada (304km) provides an opportunity for the gambler to try their luck at the tables and sample the many tasty food buffets. Monterey (216km) is home to the acclaimed Monterey Bay Aquarium on historic Cannery Row and nearby Carmel, a one-of-a-kind community, has upscale shopping and the Pebble Beach Golf Course. Muir Woods (35km), a 295 acre preserve protecting an ancient coast redwood forest, showcases giant redwoods over a thousand years old. A visit to Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Universal Studios and other theme parks can easily be incorporated with a trip to Los Angeles. We have an extensive library of California and Nevada travel destination books, literature and maps available for visiting travelers. Many friends and family have stayed with us so we are experts at designing itineraries for every type of traveler: art museum aficionado, trips for families with small children, shopping expeditions to the many outlet stores nearby, hiking enthusiasts, etc. So please feel free to ask us about any sites that are not listed here or for recommendations on what to do in the area. Crockett is a small town of 3000 people that is flanked by the Carquinez Strait which leads to San Francisco Bay. Regional parks border the town on three sides with abundant hiking trails and great views. Two major freeways are just outside of town, making trips simple. The climate here is very comfortable with average summer days warming from 26*C to 31*C and winter days warming to 12*C to 16*C. It rarely freezes here. Our small community is a welcome respite from the bustle of San Francisco. Enjoy the art galleries in the heart of town and catch local jazz musicians on Sunday evenings at the deli. ![]() Something about ourselves

We are a professional couple in our 40's and 50's that enjoy worldwide travel. I am a skilled artisan and licensed contractor. Jean works for the U.S. Coast Guard. We spend a lot of time hiking with our dogs in the parks near our home. Jean is an accomplished cook and enjoys preparing savory faire in our kitchen. Our tight-knit neighborhood has frequent get-togethers and we frequently host small dinner parties in our home. We would love to enjoy a quite, peaceful place and will treat it with respect. You will find us to be careful, quiet and considerate people who enjoy different cultures. Our son, a World War II buff, is returning from a tour in Afghanistan with the Army and would like to visit the Normandy Region of France for his vacation. We would love to do a home exchange for the period of his leave. ![]()
