Our home is situated on ¾ of an acre, on a private street, with homeowner access via a coded, gated entry. There are 15 semi-custom homes in our enclave, with no through streets. It is a very quiet and peaceful little neighborhood, with open space, hills, mature trees, wildlife and a running creek. One can literally play in our street without any danger. San Pablo Creek runs right through our property, down a slope behind the main back garden and patio area. Deer forage along our backyard walkway, and we play host to 6 squirrels, 4 over-fed blue jays, and countless other bird species. The countryside also supports wild turkeys. Hawks circle overhead by the dozens, and swallows nest in our neighborhood.
The house is just 2 years old, built in a semi-custom manner, on two levels. The front entry level is the upper level, and the lower level exits to the garden area at the rear of the house. The architectural style is contemporary Spanish, with stucco walls and tile roof. There are 2,700 square feet of living space, and 500 square feet of garage space for 2 cars.
The home has four bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, a large laundry room, a dining room for 8 to 10 people, a large living room for entertaining, a spacious kitchen with breakfast dining area, a kitchen island with sink, an 800+ book library, an office/PC work desk, and a home gym in the garage area. The living room features a gas burning fireplace, with electric starter. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom, with a large soaking tub, separate tiled shower, double sinks, a separate water closet and loads of closet space.
In the kitchen, all of the appliances are new, top of the line, KitchenAid Architect Series, including 2 ovens, a 5-burner range, a huge 3 door refrigerator with ice-maker and chilled, filtered water, dishwasher, microwave, and 2 sinks, both with garbage disposals. There is forced air heating and air-conditioning in every room, on a 2 zone system, as well as 3 ceiling fans, each with individual control.
There is a very large brick-paved patio in the backyard, surrounded by a wood and wire fence that defines the entertaining area and gardens. Beyond the fence line the land slopes down to the creek. There are many mature trees in the back of the property which can bee seen from inside the home. There is a barbeque on the back porch, Adirondack chairs and furniture for sitting and sipping, lounges for sunning, and a table and chairs with umbrella for all fresco dining.
There is a 5 speaker, digital surround sound music system tied to the 52-inch HDTV system with 500+ TV channels, fiber-optic cable service, super-hi-speed internet service, Wi-Fi, 500+ music CD’s, endless movie channels, a second digital TV in the master bedroom, and a third TV in bedroom 2.
We have a Mercedes Benz C350 available, subject to your comfort driving in the US, and to arranging the appropriate insurance for you.
We look forward to discussing a swap with you, and while we can’t travel all the time, we do have tickets to the London Olympics, landing on Sunday July 22nd and departing Sunday, August 12th, 2012.
We know you will thoroughly enjoy our home as your San Francisco base of operations, so please feel free to contact us and we can chat about how to make it work for each of us!
Cheers,

I can’t really guess what everyone’s trip ambitions will be, but I can share with you what staying at our home will deliver for you and your fellow travelers!
Let’s start with location. San Francisco and environs is a perennial winner of Best Cities in America to visit. From the Golden Gate Bridge, to the San Francisco Cable Cars, to Union Square, The Embarcadero, Fisherman’s Wharf, to the California Academy of Sciences Museum, there are sightseeing opportunities with no end. Keep in mind, San Francisco is 7 miles square.
While no one can argue San Francisco isn’t a wonderful city to visit, if you have traveled several thousand miles to be here, you should be aware of all the other very attractive places to experience that are within an easy drive from our location. The wine country of Napa & Sonoma Valley, home to literally several hundred wineries, is within an hours drive from our home. The picturesque waterfront village of Sausalito is a 45 minute drive. Carmel and Monterey are within a 2.5 hour drive. Big Sur and its rocky pounding surf, within 3 hours drive.
If you are into tech, Google, Apple, EBay and Facebook headquarters are all within a one hour drive of the house. If you like to visit universities, UC Berkeley is just over the hill from us, and Stanford University is a 45 minute drive. South Lake Tahoe, with beautiful scenery (and world class casinos), is less than a 4 hour drive, and Yosemite National Park is only 3.5 hours away. If you want to run off to Las Vegas on a moments notice, Oakland airport is 30 minutes from our home, and Vegas is a 90 minute flight. The list of wonderful travel destinations is endless, and as a native Californian I am more than happy to email you, or chat by phone, to help develop your travel itinerary.
If you live in the San Francisco area, you live in “The City” (inside San Francisco City limits); in Marin County (North of San Francisco, across the Golden Gate Bridge); on the Peninsula (South of San Francisco, down the freeway toward Silicon Valley); or in the East Bay (east of San Francisco, across the Bay Bridge). We are located in the East Bay, and commute to San Francisco for work by parking at a nearby BART Station (rail line) in Orinda, and riding BART for about 25 minutes. This same BART station serves San Francisco International Airport and Oakland Airport. Alternatively, we just drive (about 30 minutes). It is a scenic and interesting drive because a new bridge span is being built adjacent to the existing Bay Bridge to replace the segment that is getting a bit tired. If you BART to SF, then you don't have to fuss around with parking. We are two married couples, relatives, with ages ranging 48 to 65. Two of us are Judges in California, I am a lawyer/banker, and my English wife is a corporate legal secretary. We have secured tickets to the London Olympics and arrive in London on Sunday July 22nd, departing on Sunday August 12th (three weeks), and accordingly we are interested in discussing a home swap at that time. In addition, my cousin’s spouse, Val, has been chosen as an Olympic Torch Bearer, so we are keen to see her run!
We had a London-San Francisco swap arranged for some time, in fact it was even the subject of an article in the Daily Mail on April 14th, 2012, however, the London family just accepted an offer to sell their home that they could not refuse, and consequently backed out of our arranged swap. http://www.dailymail.co.uk
We would be happy to swap at the same time as the Olympics, or should you rather travel to San Francisco at a different time (because perhaps you intend to be in some other place during the Olympics) we are open to arranging that scenario as an alternative. We travel a bit, so we can always take a different trip on the dates you would actually like to visit California.
We invite you to thoroughly explore our home posting, and we are quite happy to answer any and all questions that arise.
