Description of our house
[
![]() ]
'La Casa Verde' was built in 1940, a simple Spanish influenced home with great bone structure. It is a jewel box, filed with art and eccentric whimsy that we have handcrafted over the ten years we have lived here. A one car garage is at street level with the front door accessed through a beautifully tiled, gated front entryway and up 14 stairs. Hardwood floors run throughout the house with a geometric parquet in our 'art gallery' living room. A tiled balcony(eastern facing) runs the front length of the house with glass doors from both the living room and the library. The view of the East Bay and the Bay Bridge is "to live for". Breakfast/coffee/cocktails out there is sublime. The kitchen and dining room are open to one another and elaborate meals have been had at our art deco table.

Potrero Hill began as a blue collar working class neighborhood back when the ship yards on the bay kept the Pacific fleet in fighting order. Today it is one SF's most desired locations: Sunshine, convenience to downtown, SFO, and (home of the World Series champion Giants) ATT Ballpark. Great walks can be made to the Embarcadero and Ferry Building as well as our own community garden. The Mission 'hood is nearby with all of its vast array of restaurants and hipster shopping. SF is a bicycle city and we have a couple to use. I won't lie--- the hills are vigorous around here and not for the weak of limb. A city busline is 1/2 a block down our hill on a street chockfull of coffee shops, eateries, boutiques and a terrific little bookstore. A car is not a necessity, but we can discuss a possible exchange. Something about ourselves

I am a novelist/short story writer and my husband is an artist/art director. We are empty nest California Boomers enjoying life without the kids. We work for ourselves so our time is flexible. Our home reflects our rock 'n' roll, witchy, arty lifestyle and is anything but bland in decor. We love fashion forward interiors and hope you do as well. ![]()
