The cottage is located in a very safe residential and university neighborhood (Elmwood district) within walking distance to grocery, fine and casual restaurants (many ethnic), post office, shopping, movie theater, etc. Local buses at the corner, 1/2 mile walk or bus to subway station to San Francisco, Oakland, airports, etc. Transportation system is very easy to use. Close to freeways going any direction. Very near regional park for hiking, picnics with great views of entire bay area. University of California campus offers many theatre, music, art, performance events - depending on the season.

We are a homeowner/employer (Ruth) and a University of California architecture student/personal assistant (Katya). Ruth is interested in offering several days exchange of the cottage that is usually rented to visiting scholars for a European place where Katya can have a chance to meet her mother who lives in Russia and cannot travel long distances. Katya needs to travel over the university Christmas holiday when there are no classes but we cannot guarantee simultaneous exchange. Dates would need to be worked out. Preferable places would be northwest Germany or northern France for easy travel for her mother. Katya has worked in my home for many months and would be a superior, responsible, very neat and clean tenant. She would be thrilled to care for any pets or garden as she does here.
