House and Neighborhood: Our house is located in a very peaceful area Huntington Beach, California just behind the Bolsa Chica Wetlands Nature Reserve and about a 3 minute drive to the beach. The Wetlands are full of all types of exotic birds and animals that change with the seasons. We are about 30 minuted drive to downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, Beverly Hills; an hour and a half to San Diego, another 30 minutes to Mexico and 4 hours drive to San Francisco or Las Vegas. The Amtrak train also runs to all of these places. We just moved into our new townhouse in March & it has been completely remodeled. Our home is a comfortable 1700 sq. ft. with 2 very large master bedroom suites, (each with its own bathroom and large storage closet.. It sleeps 5 very nicely and could sleep up to 6. Large living room with fire place, dining room and modern kitchen; patio with new inferred BBQ grill and large front yard with soccer field, 2 car garage. Our complex has a large heated pool with jacuzzi.The weather is exceptional with almost no rain, sunny, warm, temps usually in the 70's with a wonderful, fresh ocean breeze. These is a 42" flat screen TV in the living room and a smaller flat screen in the master bedroom, both have cable. One street from our house is a grocery, drugstore,sport club, dance studio, jazz club, sushi and other restaurants plus any type of store/eatery/museum/concert hall/sport center you might imagine is with a 15 minute drive.Huntington Beach, also known world-wide as 'Surf City' is ready to welcome and serve visitors from around the world. Our Nine Miles of pristine beaches entice millions of visitors each year. HB is a great home to premier restaurants, night life and first-class shopping. We have enjoyed being ranked in the top ten of America's safest cities. Just a few steps off the sand is Pier Plaza where the lively music sounds from the free outdoor concerts, craft shows and entertainment are available year round. Manyl movie theaters are located in HB and some of our top restaurants are in the same centers for an easy evening out on the town. Huntington Beach is centrally located to all of the major Southern California attractions such as Disneyland, Seaworld, San Diego Zoo and Hollywood. It seems that there is never enough time to experience all we have to offer!

ABOUT US: My wife and I are University professors and artists. I'm the head of the Painting/Photography program in the Art Department, College of Environmental Design at California State Polytechnic University; my wife has resigned as the Educational Director of the Huntington Beach Art Center to devote all her time to her art career. She is being featured in the Venice Bienalle 2013 in a private gallery. We have a 10 year old daughter and a 7 year old son, both have traveled extensively since birth. We are both active, exhibiting painters. We have done several successful year long European home exchanges. We have lived in Venice (next to the Frari cathedral) for a year on two different occasions and we have lived in England (Exeter & London) for a year, twice. For the past 20 years we have spent almost every summer in Europe and have enjoyed Christmas in Venice 8 times. We all love to travel and have a very special love for Italy & southern France. My wife speaks Italian, Spanish, and English. We want to exchange for the 2013 summer; we could go to one or more places in Italy. We prefer to stay in each place for at least a month. Anyplace along the Mediterranean would be great.We definitely want to spent the largest part of the summer in Venice Italy.
