We keep up with our smallish dog and our children to maintain a clean house, nicely appointed in contemporary style, and big for this area with 4 bedrooms upstairs including the huge master suite but one large bedroom is used as Karen's CPA office and one is set up for exercise with an elliptical trainer. The living areas and one bedroom are downstairs, so there are 3 bedrooms with queen or double beds sleeping up to six. The gourmet kitchen has granite countertops and bar and high quality appliances from a 2007 remodel. The family room with gas on glass fireplace, surround sound and 50" TV is open with the kitchen, the dining room adjacent, and the living room, for reading or conversation, is at the front by the entry. We have three adult bicycles for the bike path, boogie boards, beach towels and chairs, and coolers for the beach, and a Honda Odyssey van to get you other places. There's an outdoor shower for rinsing off after the beach. Back yard just 5 x 16 yds. There's a backyard barbecue and a small table on the patio as well as some grass area. We take our dog out for exercise.

Residential areas near the beach are densely populated here, but our block is unusually quiet and uncrowded on that scale with no apartment buildings and low traffic. A Walgreens pharmacy/general store is 50 yards away, the wide, sand, Pacific Ocean beach closer than 2 city blocks west, and 3 restaurants lie within a half block. Redondo Pier with stores and restaurants under 1/2 mile north, and a retail village (Riviera Village) about a mile south. The beach stretches almost endlessly with a bike path for miles to the north and beautiful sunsets. Pacific Coast Highway which traces the entire California Coast is just east of us. The Los Angeles area offers a staggering array of things to see and do within an hour's drive: Hollywood, Santa Monica, Disneyland, active and spectator sports, theater, parks, museums; you can fill your schedule or enjoy the beach atmosphere or some of both. Longer ventures open many more options: mountains, deserts, other cities, extreme sports. We've taken guests to spend one night among the giant Sequoia trees of the Sierra Nevada Mtns from our house, and Roy was a regular skydiver at Perris, about 80 miles away, many weekends for 20 years.

We are Roy and Karen, a professional couple (Engineer/Admin and CPA) with 2 kids each that are teens or older and one dog that we would board during an exchange (unless you're open to having the dog stay with you during your stay). Our main hobby other than home projects and parenting (that's not a hobby!) is traveling to explore new places. We travel outside of tax season Feb - Apr and are flexible within our shared parenting schedule. We generally limit vacations to a week or two at a time.
